Can people please, please contact me through email instead of forum private messages? :)

I know it's a stupid detail, but I just totally hate this messages system. If I could turn it off I would, but I can't :( ... So just email me at jos at cantr or support or so when you need me. Thanks! :)

Having had trouble with Cantr e-mail in the past, (3 failed attempts to sign up,) I prefer the PM system myself.

This is also more general rule: instead of bugging particular staff member via PM it is more welcome to use Image email address (or Contact Departments form in the game). We all get those, so chances of quick response are better.

This is totally irrelevant to the topic, but this question has been eating at me for some time now. I've just noticed it here, in this thread.

Why are people afraid of writing out their email addresses, as you would see it normally? Why put it in a picture, or exchange '@' for 'at'?

It's not a criticism, if that's just Jos's style, but I've seen it elsewhere, and I just wondered.

So they don't get spam in their email accounts.

Spam? How does that happen?
Sorry, if I seem ignorant to the ins and outs of computer jargon, but... :(

Bots pick up on email addresses and send emails to them. That's how I understand it. I don't really know much about it. Bots might be the wrong term.

Yeah that's spot on, bots go through and search for email adresses and send spam. It's really irritating, my website's emails receive a crap load of them..

The (at) is so common that most likely someone has written a bot that recognizes it. Besides when you write support email address : Image, it automatically replaces it with the graphic. Or so I heard. Neat, huh?

And Duckers, never go entering your friends' email addresses to this thing that says that you will win a free lamp if you supply them with a dozen - since it's a scam. Never put your friends' emails anywhere unless it's an e-card from a trusted site, and don't put your own address anywhere either unless it's required for signing up to a game.

When email addresses were non-graphical, the PD and MD listservs were inundated with spam. It's probably still the case, though I'm not on either anymore.
