Damage to boats when grounded.
As an antidote to the rejected suggestion of auto-steering round coasts, how about damage to boats if they run aground. They have to be docked properly to repair. Say 10% damage each time which slows it down by 10%... so there's an incentive to fix it.

Yeah!
But.. They'd have to make it so if you were going at 40% of your boat's speed, it doesn't damage it when it hits a shore, but if you were going at 100%, it's going to damage it..

I'll just point out that Cantrians sleep a lot more than Humans... and as such, hit the shore much more than any human ever would... implimenting this would force too much player intervention to stop the boat, or too slow of travel speeds... alos remember that diffrent boats have diffrent max speeds, so you'd either make smaller boats immune to the shore damage, or have the potential to nearly sink a galleon in a single manuver.
