Specialty Skills/Professions - Tailor

Postby kinvoya » Wed Dec 27, 2006 8:46 am

Please see this thread: http://www.cantr.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11859 for notes on how the Specialty Skills/Professions would work.

*********

Professional Tailor:

The Tailor would always be able to sew, weave, knit, spin, etc. faster than even an expert tailor.

S/he would also be able to make special luxury versions of clothing out of any kind of material from hide to silk. Thus s/he might make a georgeous, supple beaded hide dress or shirt and at the other end of the spectrum, a rare silk ballgown with dimond straps or a silk tuxedo and lots of fun clothes inbetween.

Maybe these items could be in an area of the clothing page that is accessible only to the Professional Tailor when they are ready to create some high fashion.

This same idea could be applied to a Skilled Cobbler to make fancy or specialty shoes.

Yes. This would be a good idea when they implement the need to repair clothes, if they do it.

This way it kind of concretes a player's character's actual current job/profession and gives it a benefit.

But then you tie down what your charrie is... no more mid-life crisises... giving extra options to skilled/expert skill levels, sure... but don't add "classes" or you'll kill the unique personalies of the general porpose awesome charries.

Uhh... That's like saying, "no one should go to University to study something to further their career- because then you have to do that job and can't do a whole bunch of things'.....

Yeah, sorry. Ranacross this one first and misunderstood... but to only have the ability for one "specialty" or having it only predefined means that the charrie can't really strive for that same glory in another field later in its life.
