How many elves/fairies and shit like that have we had? Only a few, and they stopped it after being corrected. They were n00bs. It says magic doesn't exist in Cantr. Elves and fairies are magical creatures. Therefor they do not exist. One may look elvish, nimble and all, but if they happen to have pointy ears then it's a mutation. If they have wings then it's a real freakish mutation and they should be shot.

You know, if you let people choose their appareance they are going to start claiming they are elf-like, orc-like or even worse, dragon-like!
And that would ruin the mood.
We'll continue to sabre them just like we have in the past and continue on with life. Just another way to say what Seko wrote.

Good point..
Nakranoth's "evil" character says:

An unfortunate side effect of too many fake foreign characters spawning in the game.

I think some of the most intersting chars I've met claim somewhat implausable physical discriptions or small miricals. Truth is, in real life some people have major defformaties (could look orc like) or demonstrait having magic powers(magicians). A good one I've seen is someone crying rust. If you want to RP believing it to be real it's fine, if want to claim he's a hoaxter, you don't have to believe what the other player is "showing you". I personally don't care for over realism in Cantr, b/c the whole point of playing an RPG is to play someone you are not. If you ristrict it to much to "normal" human beings, the game is rather boring, even if it does make it a more accurate "society emulator"

I concur!
Me too!
I wrote on this subject in my very first post in the forums, but people (at least one) had heard it discussed enough that the topic was locked.

If I had to edit it, I'd take out the reference to "dog" at the end, since I imagine that was the straw that got it locked. Reference to dogs in Cantr is something of a sore spot for oldbies ever since one player tried to play their character as a dog.
I didn't mean to endorse playing dogs as characters. Really, my main point is that we have to make assumptions. The problem, I think, is that players are not fully aware of all the assumptions we have to make. Agreeing on imaginary aspects of the game world is so pervasive that the game wouldn't be the same without it. Rather than trying to stamp out assumptions in the imagination, we should figure out what we can agree on, by convention, and go with it.
