I have no complaints about it, in fact I could wait a little longer for more content. 8)

Firefox!!!

Ya that's another trick. If a page is taking ages, you press back and click the link again. For some reason it just lingers around sometimes and appears to almost 'forget' what it was doing.

I use Opera, which is what Firefox got the idea for tabbed browsing from :P

Although on my new computer I'm using Firefox more and more often.

IN FIREFOX YOU CAN!!! :D :D :D

All lies! IE does this as well!

I have tried Firefox, because it is what we are forced to use on our house computers at school. I have tried IE 7 because we are forced to use it on every other school computer. I have tried Opera on my laptop and got rid of it

IE 6 beats them all! There is none of that stupid tabs stuff! It has way more options! The print button is actually on the screen! Every button I need is there! It has the bottom of the screen bar that lets me see how far loaded a page is when cantr is slow! It is way better!

Interesting as the geeky discussion about internet browsers is, can we get back to the point (and a moderator delete all this IE vs FireFox fight). Speed shouldn't matter which browser I use, whether it's IE, FireFox, Opera, or BT Yahoo!

Again this morning, another page that took 11 seconds to load - most are of a decent speed, but it only takes a couple of slow page-loads when I've promised I'll be ready to leave in 2 minutes to wind me up.

But of course, similar to when you take your washing machine to be fixed and suddenly it works perfectly for the repair man, it's pretty much running up to speed this morning.

Joshmonkey, whether or not you have a print button, or use tabs, or whether the back button remembers what you wrote, is completely irrelevant for the discussion.

The only relevance of browsers to this discussion is whether they change the speed that you load pages. Sho pretty much stamped on that suggestion, so unless anyone wants to disagree with him, browsers have no further place to play in the thread.

It may be only with my particular browser having cocked itself up, but with IE6 it often hangs forever on loading the final item when logging off, logging on to the forum, and on particular messages. (My natural inclination is to blame the Google ads, but I may be wrong.)
I tried Firefox, and this seems to work a lot better... or it would if my TTS software liked it better.
So Firefox is worth a try.

Well, since I brought up the IE versus FF or Opera I guess I should throw in some more of my thoughts. First, its not Cantr's fault that it runs slow. It has few images to load, and at that very basic ones save for some areas (list of clothing to make, ect.) the main problem I've come to realize though is IE itself. Its a Microsoft program, and therefore makes it liable to just screw up left and right. I know, IE lovers are wanting to scream at me... but what you think is just bad timing, or bad servers, etc. is usually just your program. I had so many issues with IE, concerning viruses and just about anything else, that I almost HAD to convert to FireFox.

Another issue is that viruses can slow down what used to be a decent internet connection. IE also is notorious for not saving you from viruses in comparison to other browser programs. Basically... scan your comp for viruses, pick up FF or Opera, and stop habitually using IE (yes, it is a habit... trust me) and you'll notice that the internet runs smoother all around, not just on Cantr.

Also, I believe its Opera... but its always alittle cool and creepy when you can have your e-mails read TO you :P its a built in thing you can activiate at your pleasure. I advise though... if you hate monotone stear clear of it :P

Have you actually tried comparing Mozilla's (Firefox's) printing with IE's? As for buttons - toolbar customization?

IE's priniting is shockingly bad, and often garbles a page once it's completed.

I like tabbed browsing, but it is just a gimick and can always be turned off.

IE7 is much better than IE6 - it looks better, feels less clunky, has tabbed browsing and prints better.

It also takes a huge amount of control away from the user. So much custom choice, and access to so many of the options are difficult with IE - FireFox may be less slick in its vanilla form, but the control is there.

Secondly, IE is the target of the source of many internet security issues. IE still hogs the vast majority of client use, and is thus the main target for malicious hackers and their ilk. Any new development, and new security fix is immediately targeted. That simply doesn't make me feel safe to use it.

Remove the IE shortcuts from the desktop and start bar. If you ever need it, you'll still be able to get to it from the menu, but you won't have the shortcuts to automatically click on. I removed them so that if any one else borrowed my computer they couldn't use IE accidentally, because I really don't like it used on my comp, and it's easier than reminding them to not use it.

I have recently had reason to install both Opera and Firefox, as well as BT Yahoo! (which I think is probably IE in disguise).

After testing today, I can assure you that they make no difference to the slow-running of Cantr. :P

I'm sure this slowness has nothing to do with the browser. I too am using FireFox and I still experience slow laggy days. I just go off to play something else.... and of course I use that time to do my homework...

Lately I've been playing Oil Empires. It's kept me busy for long enough.. especially when your empire gets huge O.O

Ummm yes, I do think that the lag is horribly annoying but be grateful that it's been running so nicely lately.

Edit: Fixed link.
