Having trouble figuring out a name?

Postby rklenseth » Mon Dec 18, 2006 11:37 pm

Then I found the perfect name generator site that isn't fantasy related.

http://www.behindthename.com/random/

This has a pretty good selection of ethnicities to choose from and I have found it really helpful in naming my characters. Plus the site will tell you the meaning of the name and all that if you want the name to somehow symbolize what your character's outlook on life is.

Well, I hope you all enjoy. :D

That's pretty cool.

Not that I ever have a problem, but if I did this would help. :P

Oh, I've been there. I think that's where I got the name for my youngest character.

Edit: And possibly Ken and Keiran as well - I intentionally chose names with meanings that match the personality or outlook of the character. It may have been some other site though.

Just trying the Esperanto names and the third I got was "Antono" :)

It's a pity you can't generate surnames, that's usually the part I have the problem with.

Nice.

Note that you can also not give your char a name and see what happens ;) ...

Yeah, spawning no-name chars is fun, but can be annoying too.

Personaly, I've started to spawn new characters with only a first name, leaving the last name open, to mimic a role model, represent a group, display profession, etc. Either way is fun.

Hey hey, that site is pretty nifty!
I'm definitely using for all new characters from now on. :D
I usually don't run out of ideas for names, but this'll make it easier.
All of my endings are waiting to begin.

I now have an open space for a character, but I don't know..15 is kind of a lot.
