I really do not belive this to be the reason. My charater that became ill made food and that food never left his hands. EVER.

Indeed but did he have the new and improved wooden plate. It is the pattern of this game to introduce the solution slightly before the problem...

Well glad to hear that some of those characters that once had this over eating disease have not seen it again.

- 4 out of 15 of my characters have seen this disease.
- Three of them seem fine now after not working for a while.
- Some had faintness feeling and some did not.
- All ate various amounts of food.
- Some had it longer than others.

One has come down with it again. It's not as bad as the first time. This character is in a place where there is no grown food and can't gather any.
Not sure what caused the re-infection but after a few days of digging it hit again. :(

Probably this overeating thing is not.

This is more what we should look for.

Maybe even the "feeling faint" and "overeating" should be looked at seperatly.
. Someone figure out the cure and hurry up about it so I can get back to playing. That's how I feel about it. I think lots of others do as well but I don't know that for sure. :?
*raises her hand* I feel the same way.

I can tell you without hesitation one thing that is NOT a cure.

If you catch the overeating disease, DO NOT get in your boat and sail away, drop all your food on deck and only pick up one day's worth of food each day after the eating tick.

All that will do is make it drag out for (see signature below) days. After the first year (20 days) you'll finally have 1% hunger. I'm not being reinfected, as the source of the disease has never been present on my ship, ever.
Reality was never my strong point.

As far as I know, none of my characters has caught it. But then how do you tell? Monitor the eating event messages of every character? What a bore! Is this intended to be exciting?

I dont think its a disease thats passed from charrie to charrie, i'm thinking it might be something more like extreme tiredness from overworking, like if you've been constantly crushing hematite for 20 days without a break, or something to do with the charries surroundings

My characters that got it weren't tired at all. One hadn't done anything for a long time and one just arrived at a town after walking and eating normally for a couple of days. You don't get tired when you travel yet, as far as I know.

All of my chars are less than a year old so they tend to do similar things like pick up or receive discarded bone tools and clothes.

I am suspecting that the cause of the disease has something to do with dead bodies. Looking at them or having items that belonged to them. Possibly having an unburied body in a room or outside randomly makes people sick (from the sight or smell?). Not sure why they would then eat a lot, however. Maybe they get freaked out from seeing people starve or emaciated corpses?

I've had four sick chars now and all had mild cases (they ate more than usual but not a huge amount) and recovered within two days. One worked the whole time and still recovered.

I'm pretty sure that one of mine wasn't around any dead bodies, and neither of them pick up things, or haven't in ages. The one that was travelling hadn't been around bodies for a few days before it hit, and I'm 98% sure it wasn't around any when it arrived either. It was only a few hours after it arrived that it started overeating, so I don't know if it would've happened that day if it'd been on the road still or not.

Edit: I don't know about partially buried bodies though..

A corpse would make sense in my case. But Agar's charrie has had the thing awfully long and the only time she may have possibly ran into corpses was during the first day(s?) of the sickness, before she swiftly undocked. It seems unlikely that it would drag on for over twenty days without second exposure.

Actually that is possible...

I know this is going to sound arrogant but I promise I don't intend it that way.

Just stop trying to figure out what the causes/symptoms/cures are, especially OOCly..

I had a really good reason why not to.. but now I've forgotten. :P so think of a really good reason why not to and hold that thought, that thought is what I was going to say. :P

I agree wholeheartedly... The roleplay this provides is much better if you really don't know the solution...
