different areas will come up with different systems.

Think of it like handwriting, with the same pen, or tool, different people, or gropus, can produce different results

Thats exactly what i meant, solfius. But, in our community the local merchant intends to use points. But how will they look like? Can it be counterfeited? Thats the trouble. Maybe that merchant knows something that i dont know yet.

But I really support the idea of different systems. There's a challenge when it comes to intenational trade, reinventing the wheel in Cantr.

I think they should be forgeable, just not easily. Perhaps you need a coin, and can try and copy the design like a key, onto a press or plate, but it may not be exactly right, and maybe that could show up in the description, like the additon or take away of some random letters or spaces?

Personally I think that presses should all be given a numeric ID. And all the coins made with that press have the same ID number. Then maybe you could try to copy that ID number, but the numbers might not look exactly right. Make it a long number so that it would be hard to tell. I'm ot sure still how you could make that stackable besides making in on th einventory page just say coins and when you hand the coins to someone else the numbers are shown.

I think whats on the coin ought to be up to the user, so no automatic IDs, except behind the scenes

Well then what's keeping a person who wants exactly whats on another coin to just make a press that makes it exactly. The only way to give counterfiting a chance is if the original one has a chance to be messed up.

whts stopping you just going and printing off your own money? or trying to press your own? it's hard but possible, the reason it's hard is because minting presses are not easy to get as they're probaly illegal in order to restrict counterfeiting coins

What's stopping me is the know-how of making a press and how it functions. In cantr my character already knows all this.

Which is something I disagree with and have made some suggestions to remedy.

Perhaps the personalised presses could be like character's names used to be? you can't make one exactly the same as another, but you could make one similar, by dropping a letter or something?

Swymir wrote:Well how many uses does gold have in RL? It just looks good. It is a pretty flimsy metal. Also the coins that you are going to make with the press they won't have any use besides what your making the use for. I was saying I'm surprised no one has given gold a use by making it a good source of money. Carrying 100g of gold is a lot easier then 4000g of potatoes.

Sorry as an engineer I must correct this! :P Gold does in fact uses, and to say that it is flimsy is infact an error. Gold is a strong metal, but most of all is its unique properties with electrical and heat conduction. It is an incredibly good electrical conductor, hense earphone jacks etc are made from it however, it conducts very little heat, which is why a gold plated earphone jack does not need a rubber sleave!

Sorry I realise that was totally unnesercery, but I felt I had to!! Sorry! :D
