That’s still a pretty much a fifty hour work week. The suggested humanitarian work week is fourty hours. And bear in mind, he takes weekends off, he gets less money and can’t maintain his standard of living. I don’t really want to get into the math here, but if you like, go ahead. Your whole load falls apart.
Ok then, take 220 dollars off the paycheck. That leaves 280. Enough to support a family, eh? The phone is alredy payed, i alredy introduced internet, heating, electricity, and taxing. AND, if he gets government funding, it's a whole differen't story. Also, if he has a wife (wich, if he has kids, is a pretty likely thing) that gives him another 1500 dollars, to spend as he likes, becaus everything els is alredy coverd.
The chances of him getting that many shifts are next to none. I see you’ve conveniently left that out of your equation. Remember, some people can’t even GET jobs, simply because there aren’t that many around. This guy’d have to be pretty lucky in order to get that much work.
you really must live in a place that's... well, not like the place i'm in. Well, you really should try looking in the wanted sections of the newspaper, see how many jobs a person with a high school education can take. (and also, secretaries, depending on the job, can make well above that of an average teacher)
And so, like your calculations show, they poor mofo would have to work sixty hour weeks, three days off a month, and never have any children just to remain middle class. How long do you think he could keep it up? And isn’t it reasonable to want children? For example, you say, him getting his family over. Let’s just assume he’s got no kids back home, to give the poor guy a break, so he’s not sending money to Uzbekistan. You think he’s going to be able to get his fucking brothers and sisters over here, some nobody guy barely scrapping middle class? I don’t think so. He may have a bit of money, but not enough money to circumvent yankee law.
HEH. Well, it all depends on the place they come from. If it's a country with a verry bad government, than it's a bit less likely for it to happen. but if it's a place that, even though it's poor, at least has a well orderd government, say, i don't know, romania, maby mexico, i don't really know, than you can just wait. three months for every person, enough to buy a plain tiket. And, just to tell you, being middle class isn't all it's cracked up to be. someone can easaly work, as i've said, a secretary job, and have all the "necesary" things in life. It's a heck lot better than being in romania, maby even better than being in france (becaus, i think at least, jobs are a bit easyer to come by, or something) But again, it kinda depends on were you live. with a little planning, and a pasport, you can easaly work your way up.
And again, you’re assuming he’s got some education. Most people coming to America don’t. They’ve got no high school, college or anything, like a shit load of born and raised Americans, like I say. Even if they do, if they come from a place where they’re degree will be recognized in the states, they’re probably well off in the first place and won’t immigrate, or will bring their money with them. For example, a professor in Haiti is a high school dropout in America. Now, Canada does this too, bear in mind. It’s one of our biggest problems, in fact. We’re no better then America in that respect, believe me. Worse, even.
wait, you're saying that america dosent have high scools? or colleges? drive 200 miles, and you'll be sure, anywere in america, to find a colledge. drive 30 miles (becaus of all the open space) and you are sure to find a high school. drive 30 miles again, and you'll be sure to find a job that can support someone with high school education.
But, with no high school education, now this may be a problem. that grinds it down just a little bit. Not only does it decreas his chances of finding a well payed job, it forces him to try and get a degree. Well, It looks as if he will have to just scrape it out. get an apartnment, 400 dollars, in the right place. increas his output by 100. scrape more, and he could get another 100. It just takes a little big of scraping on his part.
so lets to the math again (math is getting boaring again) 1200, - 400 for rent, 100 for ac, 100 for electicity, 100 for food, 50 for phone (a necesity) 10 for interent(good deals are found) 400 dollars, aprox, extra, each month.
That’s just it, Pie. They haven’t got high school, they haven’t got enough work. This guy who you’ve made up, he has a wife and two kids, say, your whole thing falls to shit, and if you ask me, it’s not unreasonable to have children. He’s got two children, he’s back down to lower class, and he’s STILL got no weekends. And by the way, people without high school degrees don’t really get mortgages from the bank, as the bank doesn’t lend money to poor people.

If he has a wife and two kids, he's alot better off. He can get another 1200 dollars to spend, invest, whatever, as the wife also can get a job. Children go to school, after school programs, and everything.
And your McDonalds guy, he’s even more fucked.
And all this is if they can get as much work as they want. What happens if you can only get five hours for 22 days a month (Which would be pretty fucking lucky, that’s what I based my little math game on, five and twenty two.). Then what? Let alone if there’s no jobs to be had.
Thats why we have something called, more than one job.
Pie, you don’t know what your talking about. Look around. My God. You say everyone who is poor in America is lazy or on drugs. That’s God damn bullshit. You don’t know a thing about America. Now, I know they don’t teach you this in school, man, and it’s hard to know about unless you’ve seen it yourself. But get real, man. Face reality.
Actually, I say that everyone who is poor is lazy, on drugs, or is slowly working there way up.
You should really learn a bit more about your own rocking country. I never said America sucks, either. In fact, here’s living proof America rocks from LL Cool J himself.
http://thebox.free.fr/rockthebellsov.mp3But Christ man, look around. I say again, it’s not as simple as people would like. It would be wonderful if the world gave everyone a chance, and hard work was rewarded and the only possible way anybody could be poor. It’d be wonderful. But that’s not how it is. Some people have a fair shot, and others, a lot of others, simply don’t. That’s what up.
As for you guys talking about your having calculated tax breaks, all that, whatever, go ahead and try it. I think you may have a bit of difficulty.
And I’m not saying it’s impossible to raise kids off welfare without education. Tons of people do it. But you can’t raise them rich. And while your at work, they’re hanging around with the real winners, the pushers, or they’re having some fun getting smashed and God forbid smoking rock.
And you say you’re full Christian, Pie. What’s the point of charity, then, if everyone in a bad way deserves it? Tell me that.
You guys may want to look these guys up. They think a lot like you do, Pie.

Charity is a chance for someone to get back on there feet. anyone who isn't willing to do that, isn't deserving of charity. If there just really bad put in, than they got's to work harder, and if they do that, than I'll give them my money (if i had any)
Ok. so, as i've pointed out, even a mcdonalds guy, if he busts his but, gets 400 dollars extra to bring family in, save up for morgage, high school education, getting his kids a high school education. Espetially if he has a wife, he can get by easaly.
