Boarding a Darter

Postby Bowser » Fri Nov 24, 2006 11:09 pm

According to the wiki, there is no boat that can dock to a darter. I am traveling at sea and came across what I am guessing is a dead boat floating in the sea with no live crew. Is there a way to check it out or not?

There is presently no way to dock to a darter, dinghy, dugout canoe, raft, or rowing boat.

shouldnt a canoe and rowing boat be able to dock to anything? they are both small enough, maybe you would need some rope.

No. Rowing boats and canoes are lake only boats. If we allowed them to dock to boats that could move between lake and sea, then they could end up out of place (which causes all kinds of other problems, trust me). The only large lake only boat at the moment is the ferry, hence those boats only being able to dock to the afore mentioned ferry.

I have since left the abandoned darter behind, but I think it a shame that this boat will forever float in the sea with its secrets never to be known.

Agreed. There is actually a thread about this issue.... not sure what happened to the related suggestions. I really do thing that darters should be dockable.

But that will erase their excellent pirate ability... Currently even if some boats required a shorter range for docking than others, it wouldn't matter upon undocking since all undocking boats will end up in the exact same spot if they undock in the same direction. And it doesn't take half a brain to figure out which way is north and so on. So if someone is awake, they can just hop on a dinghy and bash. Could even leach on for several days, provided that they have enough healing food.

Could it be made so that they can only be docked to if they have been immobile for at least a day? The same would go for dinghies as well.
