Well, since it's here, I might as well ask, does anyone know anything about the history of that place? IC and OOC (and I'm actually a lot more interested in all this then my char is...) I only know about the goverment as far back as Robyn Arrows and John Kite, but one of the buildings is obviously pretty old from the date on some of the old projects, and we just finished a barrel that had been started back in like the 600's.

I've dug around through all the envelopes and never found any old law notes or anything like that, and I'm curious about how the ZFTC got started up and why we have ambassadors from the west hills hanging around in the first place.

Also I'm still trying to figure out how 12 kilos of iron ore mysteriously wound up inside the storage building. Robyn never mentioned it and neither did the moron who temporarily replaced her (even while we were desperately needing iron and working out the details of sending someone on a trip for hematite...)

Yeah, that's the point. If this would be locked then it would just flame up again in some other thread. So anyone who still has some matters unsaid should spurt them out here, maybe they can eventually reach some sort of an agreement. That, or continue on to page ninety-x as the religion thread - but in such a case, at least people are not forced to run into such postings while looking for other stuff.

For what it looks like, a person committed CRB because he was afraid others would commit CRB that would hurt his character. But not all people let OOC intentions affect the actions of their characters. In fact, most people won't. But the ones that do tend to assume everyone else does as well.

I know a small segment from the late 1100's. If you are interested, just send me a PM and I will help fill you in.

After Deadboy's post it makes a lot more sense, clears a lot of things up.

If I had of found these posts earlier I would have told some people to just stand down, it's not worth it.

I don't really want to say much, and I just deleted a comment I was about to say about someone which made me sound like a hypocrit.

I don't think there's much more to say about the events. Here's a summary to quieten people down.

-Robie was killed NOT because of OOC influence, but because he attacked a man. The question of whether it was a fair punishment is irrelevant- that was the Guard/Executionists decision, whether it was for greed of the 'loot' or satisfaction of killing a character, or because violent people deserve death.
-*hopefully* Tom and Gohanez did not interchange information via their player. It is unlikely they did, so this issue is also irrelevant and now redundant. The player RP's well enough to know not to, so this is good.
-The whole coup was well done, as it was kind of like an attack from the shadows, not knowing who was 'in' and who wasn't. Robie probably deserved what he got for being so much of a radical leader with no fall-back, ie he was so outgoing, so ready to go to War, but had no weapons anyway.

So please fellas, end this, it's not proving anything, that includes you Phalynx, though I appreciate your support, Marian- you too, Deadboy- thankyou for your input, you didn't actually abuse anyone, but also stop, and Borat- while I have a level of confusion towards you, and why you would murder a character for injuring another without investigating the event, and having the tools to investigate it (ie a jail cell to hold the potential criminal), yeah.. Please send a PM..

I don't check the boards often so I know this is WAY after the fact. I was one of the main people dealing with all of the things happening in this situation and my character still carries Sophia's account on the whole situation... I thought it might add a little insight.. If I'm wrong, don't jump on me.. As I said, I don't post often so most of the time I have no idea what is going on... I play to enjoy the game =)

Sophia's Account

This is in greater detail than I told Phantom, but here it is all the same. I'm
making this uneditable, placing it in an envelope and sealing it when I'm through,
just to make sure that no one has tampered with it. I'm sorry if I'm paranoid, but
as you will see, I haven't had much experience with people who think first and act
second.

I first encountered Robie Elgas on my way through the forest. I was in need of food
and asked if the town could spare enough to get me to a food supply. Unfortunately,
they had a food shortage of their own. I agreed to go on to the next town and bring
back some supplies. When I returned, I was greeted warmly by Robie. He even went as
far as to offer me a job as Food Gatherer. I declined, saying I would only be
staying in town for a few more days and after that I was planning on traveling some
more.

It must have been only a day or so later when the trouble between Robie and Gohanez
began. Robie suspected Gohanez of stealing wood. Several people tried to vouch for
Gohanez's honesty, but many of those who said good things about him were also having
trouble with Robie upon the specifics of his wood tax. As far as I knew, he was
trying to keep the gathering fields from becoming overcrowded while retaining
something for the town. I've known many a leader who've had similar policies.

Anyway, the argument between the two men escalated and there was even talk of
Gohanez going back to his hometown and gathering the support of his kind and the
army. It was at this point, when they were both threating each other, that I stepped
in and said they were being ridiculous. I told them that they would end up bringing
and ill fate upon the town. I told Robie that I would now most certainly not accept
a job under his leadership if he would jump to such drastic conclusions and be so
eager to fight.

So I left. Not long after, Robie came hurrying down the road saying that he and
Gohanez had realized the error of their ways and had settled their dispute. He said
he would appreciate it if I would come back to the forest because I had been a kind
friend to point out what idiots they both were being. I returned and they seemed
sociable, if not polite to one another. Robie then offered me a job as a sort of...
advisor for him. I looked at it as a chance to stop him before he went too far, so I
hesitantly accepted, though I let him know that it was under the pretense that I
would leave if things got out of hand.

It was at this point that someone started telling Robie stories about Seatown Hills
or some such place. The stories were not good ones: newspawns being forced into
servitude in order to survive, visitors being locked up and starved for no apparent
reason, and all run by one woman. Robie didn't like the sound of what was going on
in the town and he began to formulate a plan to bring their leader to justice.

He asked me, confidentially mind you, if I would travel to the town and get a lay of
what it was really like - whether or not their ruler was really the dictator it
seemed she was. I was given supplies and a false alibi for traveling to the town and
I set out once more. (It was at this point that Phantom asked why I agreed to spy.
The answer: It was a stalling tactic. Robie was threatening to go to war without
full intell. I felt that if I did this "mission" of his, that I could stop him from
doing something he would supremely regret later.)

It was no more than a day or so later when Robie, Tina, Seamus and Wank came running
down the road. Gohanez was close behind them, threatening death to Robie if he ever
returned and offering Wank, Tina, Seamus and I the chance to leave Robie and return
to the forest where a "new democracy" would arise. Everyone was yelling and I could
make no sense of what was going on, so I asked for them to explain the situation.

Apparently Gohanez and Shona had convinced Wank that after Robie's little tirade
over the wood he suspected Gohanez of stealing, that he should be overthrown by
force. Wank wounded Robie, but not long after Robie had been chased out of town he
realized that Gohanez and Shona's real goal was to try and control the wood supply.

I tried to ask Gohanez why he didn't try and find a less violent way of resolving
the situation, rather than trying to kill Robie, and he finished by informing the
five of us that we would be killed if we ever returned to the forest. We were no
longer welcome.

That's the situation as I know it. If anything's unclear, or you have any other
questions, just ask. I'd like to get this matter sorted out as soon as possible.

He threatened Sophia? Wow, what an ass. And yeah now I can see where people might have gotten the impression that he was trying to take over...when Shona agreed to this thing it was on the specific condition that there would be no 'macho bullshit' on his part, but I guess that stopped applying when she was out of earshot.

(Oh yeah, supposed to be letting the topic die. Right. Sorry.)

No, no, Marian, feel free to talk. :D Sorry if I made it sound like I tried killing it.

Get your opinion/emotions/views out! It's better that way. :)

And it makes for interesting read- I never would have known Shona was resistant or reluctant to Gohanez's violence and, quote you, macho-behaviour.

Are you speaking of Shona Kree in Zhift Forest?

I have a character there, and she is a real mean woman. Very greedy about her wood too.

LOL! Come on, the ten percent tax has been around longer then she has...and I've got a char in a forest with a twenty percent one right now so I don't think it's that uncommon.

Okay, I have to know, do you play guy that showed up and jumped into her spot and started the year-long gathering project without permission (tryign ot dodge the tax while cutting in front of a couple of other people that were patiently waiting on their turn...) and then told her she was rude when she asked him to stop what he was doing and read the laws? (And then claimed he had read the laws which led her to conclude he was either a liar or had just decided he was too good to have to follow them like everybody else?)

Because that guy really pissed her off...

And it's a friggin' repeatable project to, which means that now not only is there a big project that has to be cleared, but that twice a day there's going to be wood winding up on the ground and tempting somebody to steal it...

*laughs* no, that wasn't me. I am one of the characters standing around watching the show. *smiles* I am sure my charrie will not be hard to pick out. Anyway, it wasn't the tax thing, but we can't really talk about all of this since it only happened yesterday right?

Uh-oh...think I might have already talked about it. Oh well, it's not exactly earth-shattering news that's going to effect the whole region, and I can edit it later if anybody wants me to.

(And for the record it's not the fact that he took her gathering space that annoyed her, or even that he took it in order to start an illegal project...it was mainly just the 'rude' comment that made her mad.)

And both IC and OOC I will never understand what it is that possesses people with bone clubs and bone shields to mouth off to people with crossbows, especially when you're standing in their town. All things considered I think she showed a lot of restraint in not shooting the guy. :D

I had the perfect sarcastic line all thought out too... :(

Heh, yes he did, but you have to remember that all he had to go on was what he saw and was told by Robie, which was that she was his spy and helping him, so of course he had no choice but see her as a threat as well

Kind of stupid for Robie to be such a radically out-going, blood-thirsty leader when he didn't even have a jail to throw people in, lol..
