Yes, this has annoyed me as well for long time. Though less the more I have gotten used to clicking somewhere before using the arrowkeys.

The habit is probably from Cantr from before we implemented that focus thingy ;) ...

And see, you played for years without being frustrated by having to click there first! :)

But I'm clearly losing the battle here :( ...

Well, if you had to change it so the focus wasn't on the "talk area" maybe noone would mind?

I wouldn't, seeing as I click there first anyway.

This focus thing annoys me as hell... And I thought no one else cared.. :?

Every time I want to read the text, I forget and use the arrows and instead I get all the things I said before. It's really, really, annoying.

Oh, and I hate laptops (just thought I'd throw this one in )

:? I never get all the things I said before... just a little confused on that one.

I just realized I always click on it, too, if I'm gonna talk in it. Guess maybe that's why I didn't notice the focus and it's never bothered me. Doesn't matter to me either way.

Yeah, I think I always click on ot too. It shouldn't focus on it from the start.

I always assume that on any decent webpage the focus will be on the place where I am most likely to have to enter text...

It's the same at the login page, I just type my ID, [tab] and then my password - I don't have to even look at it..

I wouldn't like this to change, I suppose it could be another 'option'...

I like the idea! I am often annoyed with the text box focus (although I can understand the reasoning behind it), and if there was an option to turn it off, I would select it.

Yeah, if there was an option to turn it off, and back on later, that's good, but not vice versa.

Listen, guys, it's quite a stupid thing to say anyway.
It'll take you the same amount, if not LONGER, to turn the box off, then scroll down, read, reply whispers, turn it back on, reply in 'talk to all', turn it off, read the next character, reply whispers, turn it on, talk to all, turn it off..

Really it's just a waste of time in the end.
