I voted 'yes'. It might makes things a little more interesting if you can't pick your char's sex. For instance, if someone is playing mostly male chars, and they randomly get a female, it would make the game a little more interesting for them.

Or as Sho said, they'll kill them off. Or play them very poorly. I hate suiciders, they ruin the game, and we need fewer of them.

Hm, but do we need to get rid of suiciders by giving people more choice, or by making life more valuable?

There are already several ideas in the making for the latter ... e.g. a delay between dead of a character and the ability to create a new one.

it'd have to be a decent amount of time to make it worth while if it was only a week it might dicourage a few but not anybody with 14 other char's

A delay might work. I always wondered why there wasn't one. Even if a char dies and it is not suicide there should be a delay of a few days at least.

I have no problem playing the opposite sex. I find it very interesting to use the different mind set required. I agree with Missy and Jeslange, that it shouldn't matter to other players, who the player is behind the character. It is the character, not the player, that theirs is interacting with. But I voted no because I think some people have a really hard time playing the opposite sex. And thus bad rp or suicide, or one of them aggravating silent ones.

By the way, I think I can guess one of your female chars, Spectrus :P

IRL the sex of a child is gentic however one sex or another is sometimes prescreened out by nature. I say leave it at a choice.

As for suicidal characters. Ya. It's a bummer but it is up to a IC societies and characters to try to do something about it or not.

I voted a no. A very strong NO. I cant play female characters, and whether the PD likes it or not I would suicide them.

Not that I like suiciders, but I just cannot play female characters, and I have indeed tried. Dont like it? Refer to picture.

If a person gives aname that's sort of mannish and it turns out to be a woman than that isn't really good.

I actually have a character...that was supposed to be female but I accidently chose male for him. So I just decided to make him gay..I thought it would be interesting!

Heh, funny solution :)

But Darth, read back a bit ;) ... the naming is not a problem.

It's quite interesting - we've never had such a tight poll before :) ... Usually there is just one answer the most popular, but this is really a more difficult issue, apparently.

The solution was effective indeed though ^.^ People have to look twice at him when he introduces himself. =)

I used to have two gay characters. One of them was killed for it!!! My gosh! The other one's still there. But he keeps a low profile. I made one intentionally but the other one I wanted to make had a girl's name. Like yours.
All hail his Purple Majesty!!!
