As though it hasn't been yelled for enough... the clothing pages... fix them! Stop waiting for a new person to come along to do it, because you never assign it to them to do as a mini-project anyway! They're a simple fix and utterly annoying as they are... Stop pushing it aside for larger, more complex projects.

I will voluunteer to fix the clothing pages. Just get Wichita to tell me what needs to be done, and I will do it. I need a job like that anyways where I am not always waiting on other people to get on the forum and leave comments for what I am working on. E.G. The "Bricks" and "Ceramic" threads that I have been working have just been sitting there for over a week waiting on feedback from Wichita or anyone for that matter. I could be working on the clothing page in the meantime. Just let me know Wichita if you want me to work on it.

P.S. Don't think that I was getting on to you or anything about not answering me threads. I know how RL can be sometimes, I was just making the statement that I could do both right now.

That really wasn't bitching.. just a statement. If you don't have something to say relevent to a suggestion, don't clutter the thread.

Sounds great, Elros. Hope something can be worked out on it.

Too bad it's a Programming task, not of Resources. We do not have the tools to split categories onto separate pages. It doesn't sound like awfully complicated but there must be some reason for it not been done already.

One problem with the clothing page is that it's not like your character could consider every option there is for example for shirts, due to the simple reason that you do not have all those resources. So having different clothing types on different pages would help only a little bit.

I've done it so in the wiki that there are categories for certain types of clothing, for example hemp, cotton, silk and fur clothing. A clothing article can belong to several categories. So at the moment I suggest people to do the planning and browsing in the Wiki. Yes, I know it's OOC, but having a page that forces you to take two steps back after viewing an article (in order to avoid the page from reloading itself upon next click) is NOT functional nor user friendly.

With regard to the perennial 'back button' issue, perhaps the simplest solution would be to have two - one at the top of the page, and one at the bottom.

Can you explain in more details how would you like to improve clothes pages?

I agree. Many websites already do that. So why not we?

Related to this, if you remove a project, then it will load a list of all the projects in the location. (And this list has no menu buttons to jump to Events, Location, Inventory and so on.) What it should do is redirect back to the actual Activities page (the one with the search box) and if possible repeat the previous search you completed (in case you were trying to cancel several inactive projects, but the page reloaded in the middle).

1) The sub-categories (Hat, Jacket, Shirt, Trousers etc) should be on separate pages, just like things are in the Manufacture menu.

2) There should be a search engine accessible from the page the sub-categories are listed on. Kinda like the one we have for Activities. But this would mainly concentrate on the resources. (It might be possible to include options for "exclude items that require scissors", but that might be too hard to program.)

Here's my earlier suggestion on the matter.

So basically the search query would be like "List items that may require X, Y, Z, must require A, and must not require B and C", where X... Z and A...C are names of resources.

("Must require A" leads into discarding all entries that do not include A, while if only the first rule is applied, it will list all items that require either X, Y, Z or any combination of these.)

To avoid misspellings, a list with check boxes or a multi-select list might be offered, but then again, the amount of resources used in clothing projects is rather long and might still grow with all the rubies and things like that. So it might require some consideration.

If a char works on a project inside a vehicle, and the vehicle arrives to a location, he can't continue his drive. He has to stop working on a project, click on the path, and then go back to his project.

It really doesn't make sense. There should be travel icon available all the time.

A search function for the manufacturing pages.

Much like the search function for the activity page. The search will filter through just the names of items/buildings/vehicles etc. and produce any matches on one page.

I think most players enter the manufacturing page knowing what they want to choose - it's be much easier just to be able to type 'atlatl handle' in a box and be done with it...

Agreed as with many other pages... but these really do present serious technical problems when one considers translation and non-english users.

We already see this with projects where only repair, burial and orad improvement projects are translated - Non-english chars can only search for these type of projects if they know the keywords in english.

Translation in Cantr is done almost at the last point of constructing a page
searching for translated text requires a lot more preprocessing as all searchable items will require translating before the search can begin.

There are ways to cache this and improve performancem but again these introduce more complexity - a nice idea but very difficult to implement

how about a "get all" button?
and how about a "get all resources, objects, notes, attack all and run in random direction" button?
