Missing Skill Descriptors

Missing Skill Descriptors

I've noticed with a few characters that the descriptor in the action descriptions in the profile is missing. for example I have a character building a Smelting Furnace and this is what I see in her profile:

"She is in her twenties and isworking on project 'Building a smelting furnace'."

I have yet to find a pattern to this occasional glitch, but I thought I'd bring it up and see if anyone else was experiencing it.

It is not really a glitch. This occurs for projects that do not have a skill attached to them. Since the dependant skill has been left blank, the space that would contain the skill name (in the player descriptions) is corrispondingly blank.

Glad you brought this up, it always annoyed me but it didn't seem like a big enough deal to stat a thread about. :) I've seen that a few times before but I've never paid attention to exactly what projects it was. Maybe certain things just don't use a skill? Either way the typo needs to be fixed though.

So there's no skill associated with building a smelter? :shock: Does it just assume "efficient" and leave it at that?

And is there a list somewhere of items that have no corresponding skill?

The skill for building a smelter is "manufacturing machines", however that project might have been from before skills were implemented (and hence, before skills were added to projects). A project that does not have an associated skill progresses at a "normal" rate (therefore skill has no effect on the project progress, equivelent to a moderate efficient).
