That is not completely true. All vehicles travelling on current road types have a max speed of 65535, however no current vehicle can travel anywhere near that speed.

Glad to see people are getting so much use out of something that was deliberately designed to be as awful as possible. There was a breif discussion about adding other metal-less land vehicles like chariots and and larger carts, but they never progressed farther.
I'm surprised how many of you like it. I've actually gotten around to building a few in game now, and they are every bit as slow as they are designed to be. The reason I made them that bad was to get the concept of a metal-less land vehicle past RD and in the game, and then, once it was in, use it as a springboard to get other metal-less land vehicles in game. Some RD members were opposed to the idea and it's effect on the iron economy that cantr has, but they didn't have anything more to object to about it than that, because I designed the cart to be slower than walking.
Enjoy it for everything it can be abused for!

Reality was never my strong point.

Well it's certainly nice that you don't lose the whole field of transportation just because you have no iron. There's precious little you can do without iron as it is, so it's nice to have something to build that needs other resources!
I think maybe musical instruments could be a good non-iron set of things to build unless I find I keep needing iron tools to make them...
