I'm not sure about that...how long has free speech actually been considered a right that people are born with? And even now it's not everywhere. For most of human history over most of the world I'm sure it was kind of a given that you could get killed for talking bad about the king, and lets not even mention insulting him right to his face...

Well... has someone read Nietszche?
Briefly:
"Yeah, dude, you have right to live... but I have the gun".

Our discussion is due to language ambiguity. When I say "right", I don't say "power".

Of course!
I think it is rather unlikely to find a player in Cantr RPing chars against his/her own beliefs. But even if it was common, nobody can reproach a player just for giving his/her own ideas to his/her characters.

Several of my well-off chars, with relatively high positions in their respective towns, are right now dealing with newspawns determinet to found comunists governments everywhere. They start talking about capitalism exploitation, bosses oppression and so on, while there is no capitalism in all Cantr (I'm on it).
Those newspawns have the right to shout their ideas, and the right to live. But the swords of my chars are almost about of putting end to this.

But no one can ever deny that those newspawn had their rights!

Also to dead...

Wrong Wrong Wrong.

I enjoy playig devils advocate with my characters, exploring just how far you can go with concepts and ideas you totally disagree with.
R.I.P:
Blake Stone, Jizz Bucket, Patterson Queasley, Billy Sherwood, Chavlet D'Arcy, Johnson.

I said "rather unlikely". Or are you telling me that you are a common Cantr player?

Moreover, I have a psychopath among my chars, and I can tell you that I don't share his ideas.

You might be right there but that's still really sad. :( It would be nice if more people signed up to a roleplaying game with the intention of actually roleplaying.

IMHO it should be pretty much impossible to come up with a char with the exact same outlook on the world as you, because life in Cantr is so much different then the real world.

None of my characters are anything like me, and a lot of them might have similar jobs like running towns and business, but none of them are anything like each other. Sure, usually I start out with a really basic idea for their personality, and I have some plans for the direction they might go if everything works out right (it almost never does) but I'm always ready to throw that out the window depending on wear they spawn.

The only really annoyingly similar thing is that once they get settled down with their nice weapons and houses they get to safe...but this is a problem with lots of people's chars, I noticed. When some of them finally die I'm really going to try to make the next batch piss more people offand just generally take more chances. It really does seem like it's way to difficult to get killed in this game, short of being incredibly stupid or the off chace of having a run in with a serial killer and a locked door... I don't thik its a good sign that the number one cause of death by a huge amount is boredom induced starvation and heart attacks...
