That should be clearer now - An intensive background server process runs once a month at around 08.00 GMT for about 10-15 mins

Different issue - slowness caused by investigating slowness ...

The mail server which has been down for the past 10 days has currently has quite a backlog of processing - also there is a backup currently going on as well as unusually high number of connections for this time of day
( Everyone got a day off school in the US then ? :) )

Ok, this is becoming more than mildly irritating.

For one character, all I wanted to do was four simple actions:
- check the objects list to see if I had dropped a completed project on the floor
- type one line of RP in the events page
- set my character to a project he started a while ago
- check the animals to see if I can attack any

This procedure took me well over an hour and a half.
(minutes from 200 to 101, not to mention time taken to notice it had finally updated - probably close to two hours total)

The SQL times are:
(oops, just noticed it gives overall times as well as SQL times - I only copied the SQL times, sorry)

0.005: log-in page
9.968: player page
960.514: events page for character
16.683: objects page for character
not available (repeatedly): events page
22.454: inventory page, in an attempt to come at it from a different page
not available: events page
0.010: gave up and logged in again
7.838: player page
486.037: events page for character
not available (repeatedly): when typed in RP and clicked Talk
353.071: events page reload (and this took more like 10 minutes to load)
186.066: events page with my RP added (and this may have taken 186 second on the SQL, but it took around 10-15 minutes in total to load this page)
4.929: activity page
672.356: events page after picking an activity off the list
22.093: location page
80.123: animals page
I give up!: attack one moose - still hasn't updated and I have things I need to do. That means all my other characters will have to sleep for another 12 hours or more, so no RP for them.

**newsflash: just before I clicked submit, it updated my moose attack! 302.370: (this says 303.129 total, but this is a lie I am sure as it took roughly 15 minutes to complete this! Certainly way more than 5!)

And it's taken me nearly five minutes to post this post as well, keeps going unavailable when I submit!

People who know me on the WoE forum raise an eyebrow when I use this emoticon as I've used it maybe ten times maximum in 1757 posts there, but this has annoyed me enough to be using it already :x

Thanks for your report - we are aware of the slowness over the past few days and have been investigating it . When we know more information we will let people know

It's deteriorating by the day now from tuesday. Slowness occurs more and more often, on thursday several projectupdates seem to have been skipped and the same goes for travelling updates.
The SQL-part is weighing heavily on the total responsetime, i'm under the impression more queries are asked from the server than say last week.
