But what if the whole area you live in only has specific foods? That would involve making sure a lot more food was available in certain areas because otherwise almost every area I personally have a character in would have people dying from lack of all those different nutrients. I've only been to one area where there was an abundent and lots of different types of food.

I think that if you combine foods, by cooking and preparing them, you loose energy and nutrition value, but you get added flavour en a feeling of general well-being. That is the bonus, not extra energy.

Would the "feeling of general well-being" be translated into some ingame benifet at all? or will it be left to RP a reason for eating meals.
About specific foods: consider that in the world enough foods of the right sort are available for people to survive and/or live healthly. What is it about the nature of cantr as a game that stops us adding that in?
It would give different foods more value than just how much a character can carry compared to another.
In answer to my question: "What is it about the nature of cantr as a game that stops us adding that in?"
I think it is due to the fact that although cantr is a large land mass, our chars don't have freedom of movement over it; they can only travel along paths into areas that have been made. A grid of land, that can be travelled along diagonally, horizontally, and vertically would give characters freedom of movement to travel in all directions until blocked by water, so we could have more resources in an area, without unbalancing things, as the amount of playing areas has increased.

I agree, but I cannot think of something now. It would be something non-fyshical we must add, and that part of the world is more reserved for gameplay then for the computer program. If we would like to find a solution for this, we must find something that is part of the fysical world produced by the program.

Food that can heal and has nutrition
In answer to Solfius about his question in another thread, the food that has nutrition and heal value is in the game almost from the beginning.

This is almost exactly what I was thinking of...
The current food changes go somewhat to prompt cooking, but, to be honest, in most large places there's such a stockpile of raw food, that no one will ever have any problem living off of raw food.
Cooking is currently reserved for sailors and travellers...
I was thinking that eating raw food should have problemsassociated with it - the easiest way I could think to implement it wuld be to take of just 1% of health for every time a character eats uncooked/unprepared food of some kind.
This might just end up with people living of raw food and healing food though, unless a more detailed system (the addition of a 'nutrition' bar of some kind?) was introduced.
Also, if the beauty stat ever gets a life, diet should have a fairly large effect upon it...

But why should they be penalized for eating raw foods? Some raw foods, such as carrots, seem (as in I don't have any hard evidence to the fact) healthier to me raw than if they were cooked. Potatoes, I could see a need for being cooked, but something like carrots? In real life, I'd rather eat raw carrots than cooked ones any day. And think of salads... lots of raw vegetables go into making salads, and they're supposedly healthy. I don't think the raw foods should have any detrimental effects just because they're raw. I do agree that cooked/prepared food should have a distinct advantage (as in consumption ratios) to make them worth preparing though.
*really doesn't want a nutrition nor a beauty bar*
