I actually enjoy RPing players with pathetic stats as much as good ones. If your automatic preconception behind the game is to have successful characters, then i don't think you're getting as much out of it as you could. I have one charie who is both very weak and an awkward fighter and hunter so it gave me an reason to RP him in a way I would have never thought to do otherwise.

I've also met other leaders like the one you are discribing where everything is given to them and they feel the reprocusions. My advice, figure out your leader's personality and role with it. If he/she is that clumbsy, then maybe you as a player could try to make things fall apart and see how long it takes for someone else to de-thrown or assassinate you. As a player, running a city into the ground or getting yourself exicuted is as good a goal to set as making it prosper or living a long life  Who knows maybe you can even get yourself exciled, imagine how much fun it would be to play an outcast ruler turned to nothing.

Wow, that's a very clever thought. Usuall when people get in a leading position, they want to do their best, or at least maintain their position in order to gain riches or respect. Intentionally destroying a town never popped into my mind. But anyway, my character wants to do her best and it's alright now, sometimes you just gotta vent...

well that's good, for your charie anyway. I'm glad you liked the idea though... maybe it's still not to late to impliment

Welllll.......

People were asking for something cataclysmic to make the game more interesting... My thought: be careful what you wish for...

Holes in the timespace continume and apocolyptic wars are two very differnt things... though both present some very interesting RP elements, maybe next time there can be a 3 day jump forward

Bringing this back to the original topic, I would like to rant about how infuriating it is when that whole 'go out of your way being nice to a newspawn , shower them with gifts, and win a friend for life' thing doesn't even come close to working out.

That's why you just kill them all when it becomes obvious they'll never be of use to you. :D

Don't you just hate it when people die right after coming home? Well... them dying while away from home is even worse, but then you don't necessarily know what happened.

Are you trying to imitate the Scatman?? Dude, nobody could copy the Scatman! He rocks!

Actually IMO, it could possibly be emotionally worse to see your loved one die once he/she comes at your door; and in that very moment you thought all was as it should be; until you see your loved one lifelessly falls to the floor. I would be surprised if any bystanders even make a chuckle to such an event in Cantr.

...That's true. Even though I hadn't had time to bond with the person, I was so happy to see people coming home in one piece after so many others dying. But then I hear that this person kicked the bucket. And it's like a cold shower.

That's the bad thing about Cantr. There seems to be some problem with people surviving when they're 5+ towns out from their home..

For long trips its better to send people in pairs, especially if they're walking. What happens is they spend a lot of time silently travelling or gathering in a town where nobody knows them, and you start checkign the char less and less and eventually lose interest in them. Also if the opposite happens, and they meet friendly people that get them involved in something else they might decide they like it there, and never quite get around to making it back.

With two people they each have someone to talk to and keep reminding them about what their goal is, also if one has a heart attack there's still a chance the other might come home.

*bites his finger nails* oh no! I have two charies who are going very far from home right now, all by themselves. In light of this new information I better turn them around before I go and get them killed from boredom... Good thing I enjoy my roadside hunting  I can RP it as road kill whether anyone is around to read it or not
