Hmm. Wathced Serenity...
I'm with BA's first opinion... it was a nice entertaining Sci-Fi film - the stroy was quite good too. I think I ruined it for myself expecting something a bit more thoughtful and above average!
Mind due BA... not sure why you couldn't follow the plot? A bit like The Manchurian Project meets Red Dwarf. There were hints of things which obviously only meant something if you watch the series... What is a companion? Why do people keep slipping into chinese or japanese?
Anyway a lot better than watching TV :D but not really a classic!
A companion is high class legal prostitute in the future. And they keep speaking Mandarin because the idea in the future is that last two remaining dominant powers in the Universe after Earth is gone are English and Mandarin speaking people and so they mix their cultures plus for the TV show it was a really easy way to swear and get by the FCC censors.
To really appreciate Serenity you should really see Firefly (the TV series from where Serenity comes from) but as far as deep goes I do see this as a deep film. For example the whole Mal and the Operative parallel. But in general I would really see Firefly and then a lot more of the characters and world will make more sense in Serenity. Plus the losses will be much more powerful. Ask any other Browncoat on this forum.

Go fulfill your sexual intrigue elsewhere. This lady's exploits are not for your eyes. Not here, at least -
I'm waiting for a publishing firm to latch-on to my blog and give me a book deal so my inner-city thirty-something sexually-liberated and off-bat sexual desires can be made public, and make me money in the process...
Not that I have a blog, or that I'm thirty-something, but that's beside the point...
Anyway, I mean, you don't even know what I look like.
For all you know, I could be a hairy, sweaty man sitting here with nunchucku in one hand, vaseline in the other, laughing like a dirty old man...
Still, even I draw the line at browncoating... Champagne is bad enough
Run Phlaynx! Not the nunchucku!

For some reason I had formed that impression of you already, only not so hairy, a bit pale and insipid... .. till about 10 days ago

Anyway back on track,
I watched V for Vendetta on Sun night. I enjoyed it, found it interesting but it was ruined by the daft stuff with the knives, and the martial arts and the oh 100 bullets at point blank range and still standing crap.
Still I like this current trend in cinema, social commentary and protest while still making millions through eminently watchable films!
Trouble is I want a film about the real story behind 9/11 instead of all these patriotic tear-jerkers.
I want the move from John Wayne and the Green Berets, or When we were Soldiers to Platoon, Tigerland and Full Metal Jacket...
R.I.P:
Blake Stone, Jizz Bucket, Patterson Queasley, Billy Sherwood, Chavlet D'Arcy, Johnson.

Damn, Purplebelly.
Anyways, I just saw "United 93". Great movie. Putting aside whether or not you believe whatever it is you may believe it is a great thriller in my lowly opinion. Much better than the big Hollywood production "World Trade Center" which, in my lowly opinion again, is horrible. Oliver Stone needs to go back to making controversial films like "Platoon" or "JFK". That is where he shines.
