Well how about bringing an old topic up of mobile phones. The mobile phone can whisper to you so nobody else could hear it. We could make satelites like somebody suggested earlier. Instead of writing a frequency you can write a phone number into your mobile and get through straight away. It would make it so much easier to contact members or friends. And make it that you can only make 8 phone calls a day or something...

I am far more interested in this:

From what I know, the ability to destroy notes has been around for quite some time.
The major issue is in how to safely implement such a device.

Too much important history and information is stored in notes. for it to be allowed easily.

If a project is required, it should wait until project cancellation is completed.

Honestly, though, I don't understand this desire to destroy notes. With multiple note actions, it's easiest to just put unwanted notes in an envelope - when you die, others get to read them...

If Cantr pretend to simulte a real society the loss of history is part of it!

a new dictator who wants to destroy everything that existed before him. a nuts who puts fire in a library and destory years of researshing and knowledge.

think about alexandria, tons of rare papirus, all destroyed exept for a few copies, what will happen in the new context? The society will learn how to keep safe the original copies of the notes
Time fades even legend

I'd have no problems with a dictator with power using it to 'eradicate history' - that involves some good RP.

But the obvious problem is stopping plainly annoying, lone, newspawns doing the same...

In my opinon most Cantr characters and players don't care enough about history for its destruction to ever be good RP.

Just make it require some kind of iron tool or a machine in a building to solve the annoying newspawn problem.

I'm not looking to destroy history or anything, I'd just like to clean up some of the dozens of maps, atlases, encyclapedias, notes on old trades, multiple copies of notes dropped by jackass newspawns that say things like '-Albentros Zaklos Forever!-' and tons of other irreleveant things takign up space. Yes, I can stuff them in an envelope, but they're still irritating. For instance I've never understood why a person would feel the need to make one misspelled, uncapitalized, unpunctuated line about something completely unimportant uneditable in the first place.

Why not make the note destroying projekt require at least two characters to use the note destroy machine.

To make it more visual, one that opperates the bellows and one that throws the notes in to the fire.

A newspawn can't operate it him/her self. And thus preventing a newbie to destroy important history. Well, yes newbies can use their different characters in that projekt. And a RP'ed dictator most often has people working for him/her, so that there will be more than one person.

So i do think that a requirement of number of characters that has to work on the note destroying machine is a simple way to add the possibility to destroy notes but preventing important history get destroyed by newspawn and complete idiots.

I like that idea, requiring two people, a firepit, and one pair of bellows. Trouble is right now, I don't believe we can have a tool requirement whereby only one participant needs to hold the tool. Do we even have the ability to require more than one participant for an activity to work?

Regardless, destroying of notes must require a project of some length......4 to 8 hours?, with multiple notes able to be put in the fire, and the ability to cancel projects MUST be in place first. IMHO

That's something I think we definitely need, if we don't have it all ready. For one thing it could mean cool things like breakign locks without a crowbar could be added in the future, like I said in the Smaller World thread. (And I've seen that suggested other places too)

Also, on a sort of related topic, man I wish there was a way to see what notes people are holding. I guess this would make more sense in one of the threads about tieing people up or knocking them out to get to their inventory though....

A alternative option to my previous post could be that only notes in sealed envelopes can get destroyed in a pit fire.

There's a way to destroy notes, and it's very simple: make yourself an envelope called "GARBAGE". Just get the note you want to destoy and put it inside it. It won't weight! :D

About the making paper stuff... Well, every character is born at the age of twenty from no mother neither father. He/She knows how to speak his/her language as well. If so relevant issues are taken as usual, why we can't simply understand that paper is the way it is -just free-?
