Only certain animals... like what you mentioned.

Then nothing is solved..... or rather its not a universal solution I should say.

Well, the mountable animals would have to be changed to a more pet-like object. Something that would stay around, like a car.

Go to a location with mountable animals, get one, ride it back, and you have a mount.

????

And some day in the distant future when the islands are repopulated some character setting up a quarry will suddenly discover that he's struck a rich vein of ancient notes....

And then, if they're repopulated, we'll be back to the same old problem of the roads being way too long. :P

I like the nice quiet, polish islands with the occasional polish charries passing through (docking). There is no violence there, I think just because we all work hard... yet no one really lives here.

reasons why things are falling apart? lack of patience and, lack of dedication, actually i think someone posted that within the past couple days

THIS IS WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT!!! Right there ^ is the answer. No big volcano, no tsuname or flooding of a city will do what that there^ will do. PATIANS!!

4 months. If you can manipulate your caricters right, withought using ooc knowlage, you can connect the whole world!!! Well, only the land parts, and closer sea parts. I'd sugest an extra 2 months to set up inter-islandary communications.

But the only inhibitance is uncooperations between towns. If you could get your town, or group of towns, to set up a government or orgonasation, centralize it, ceep in touch with all the other ones around you, you just got an aria of 5-10 towns having the posability of comunicating with each other.

And you know, the way the game is set up, I could send a message frome doryiscom to akypoor in... 8 hours. well, 8 of those turn things in cantr, actually for movenment on the roads. By way of Relaying messages, shouting it down the roads, you know.

Don't tell me that we need an airplane, quicker road traveling, a trane or anything. 2 hours to communicate with another town.

Why hasen't anyone els thought of that?

Pie dude. If everyone took your suggestion up, if things suddenly changed and everyone cooperated and made the world work it could only be the result of a massive OOC input from here...

That's impossible because not all players concern themselves with the bickering on the forum, and undesireable to most because a lot of places and characters would suddenly have to have a complete change of positin for no apparent reason.

Some form of massive change would give characters a reason, or force them, to change they way they do bussiness. On the down side it seems like all changes with this intention have unplanned and unintended consequences.

It might not be an already populated location - they may well settle on new islands.
The history would not be lost. If characters care enough about it, they will bring their history with them. If societies and cultures are strong, they will survive.

You never know, Burgeorgialip Nhralls or somewhere of the like may well one day be known as 'New Blojt'...
Whoever you vote for.

Personally, I think that the uprooting idea would only go to compound the problem at the moment, propagating the current dilution phenomenon. Do you want to kill what little activity we have at the moment by implementing some knee-jerk reaction to "solve" the problem. It is thinking like that that killed the combat system, or so people keep reminding us continually over and over every time they have the slightest little tangent to try and slip the activism political agenda into a thread.....

Let us remember that the things changed, thus far, which have involved player revolt, have nearly always revolved around changes that make things more difficult. Reducing travel times, which by its nature makes things easier, cannot surely result in massive waves of protest.

As for a cataclysmic upnheaval, one suspects those who play the game in the right spirit would enjoy the adventure and opportunity for drama and role play that such an event should provide.

Let's remember we don't have the god given right to play our characters or to have things stay the same. Quite the reverse, at the flick of a switch it could all be gone. Perhaps people should remember that!

And shortening roads isn't knee jerk reaction? Some places the roads are already short and they're short because people went and collected the materials that they needed for an oil pump, they travelled the distance it was to oil and gathered the oil and all the way back home to add it to the road. Plus sand. Plus stone.

Once again----Some people worked for those things. Why do people always want to do something that makes others work LESS-hard, to achieve those same things?
I hate people.

Here's another solution: Do nothing.

I would go along with doing nothing Because this thread is apparently based on this sentence:

Patryk Rutkowski wrote:
In the Polish area things go faster. A lot of RPing, a lot of events. Every week is a "big case" I would say.

And as Jos said on the very next line:
There can be many reasons for this

So I have to agree with Missy, 'kneejerk'.

Of all the problems commented on in the whats wrong thread this seems the least after 'its two easy to get food'.
Yuk yuk yuk.

What if on both islands, you just eliminate any town as a spawnpoint that has a 10 day moving average of less than 5 people? (could be more than 5, of course). No nerfing road lengths, cataclysms, or shrinking islands.
