Building numbers

Postby Jos Elkink » Sat Sep 23, 2006 12:30 am

I need to know for some programming issues where anyone ever used house numbers in notes. So to get an indication this poll ... I'm sure you know what I mean - the numbers in front of buildings when you click on the buildings tab.

No but I assumed this would become important when amnesia sets in.... :(

No, for as far as I know, when we implement amnesia, we first implement something that the old names become visible as signs on the buildings. So the amnesia won't be as dramatic as earlier amnesias :).

That's good to hear because I had got the impression things would be otherwise and a lot of cantr history would be lost...

Honestly, I voted no, but I probably should have voted yes because the thought had crossed my mind. They seem like a very useful method for statically referring to a building.

Yes, I certainly expected some people to say yes. Pretty annoying for some changes I had planned, though, because now I have to protect those numbers :( ...

Building name amnesia ... but as I said, it won't be very disastrous - amnesia might almost be the wrong word ;) ... We'll implement signs instead of fixed building names, basically, so we add features rather than remove anything ;) ...

About the building numbers - thanks for those responses :). I know enough now - we need to protect those numbers. That has just been implemented, so you don't have to worry about using them :).

I took it one further and actually put the building number in my building name!
