Why do people still insist that pineapples grow on trees?
Okay, I feel really anal because it bothers me so bad when people *climb a tree to pick pineapples.* But you don't see people climbing trees to pick potatoes........Or pretending that blueberries pop out of the ground...
Just, when someone says "*Climbs a tree to pick pineapples.* I picture that they're climbing this: http://www.afns.ualberta.ca/Hosted/RBall/Kauai/images/Pineapples.jpg
And it just looks completely retarded.
So my thought of the day is a bit about some fruits we have IC.
HOW DO PINEAPPLES GROW?
Most fruits develop in 3 to 4 months, but pineapples take about 18 months to grow! Pineapples are grown from the crowns or tops of other pineapples. Each crown is planted by hand. When the plants are one year old the flowering process begins. The flower bud is small and pink, and looks like a pinecone. As the bud grows it will become the fruit we know as a pineapple.
Pineapples are harvested when they are ripe. Every pineapple that is harvested is ready to eat. To ensure they are picked at their peak of maturity for ripeness and flavor, the sugar content of pineapple is tested in the field.
HOW DO BANANA PLANTS GROW?
Most people assume that bananas grow on trees, but this is not true. Bananas actually grow on plants that are giant herbs. These herbs are related to the lily and orchid family. Banana plants are perennial plants that produce fruit for many years. The plants are among the world's largest plants without woody stems. The plant's gigantic leaves can reach up to 30 feet in length and the stems can weigh up to 100 pounds.
A picture of a banana tree. Or shall we say herb? lol

You can indeed climb this tree.
Papaya don't grow too terribly high.
HOW DO PAPAYAS GROW?
Many people are surprised to learn that the papaya tree is actually an herb, but unlike many of its cousins, this herb can grow 10 or 12 feet tall! The Mexican variety can grow even taller. Papaya trees can be one of three sex types: male, female or hermaphrodite. Only the female and hermaphrodite trees produce fruit, but the quality of the fruit is not the same. Fruit from the hermaphrodite trees is the best, and is the fruit you're likely to find in a supermarket.

K. Sorry for being anal. But the best way to solve the problem is to educate, I suppose.

I appeciate the thought, but this is the way of cowards, and those who with, to maintain their sanity. I suffer from neither affliction
I presume you mean withdraw to maintain their sanity.
I withdrew to avoid sinking any further into childish and immature behaviour... besides which I wouldn't have been able to keep quiet and eventually I would have been banned or ostracised by a community of people who, on the large part I have a great deal of respect for..
Note Mykey, once your card is marked and you have made enemies of the wrong people things will be very difficult for you...

Gaaaah, I'm losing my nerves with this thing! My internet connection speed is 32.1kbps!!! Or now it's 43.0 since I've given up trying to load a flash movie. This supposed to be a 100 Mb DSL connection. That's a big difference, if someone can't do the math. Even the average crappy dial up connection is 50kbps and ISDN 128kbps. Other people in this apartment complex are not suffering from any trouble, at least in this scale. The worst score on the irc channel was 600kbps, over ten times the speed I need to suffer.
It's a bit hard to play Cantr since I can't see the bottom of objects lists. It took me 50 minutes to load near the end of a page.. *sigh* Then I picked up something and would have had to load it again to reach what I didn't have time to grab before the page reloaded. ...No thanks.
For seach results, the max amount of results per page is 36. No more than that gets shown. Inside topics I can apparently see all the 15 posts on a page after a bit of waiting, but the footer never gets loaded.
I guess I should just stop being such a nerd and find something reasonable to waste my time with.

My rant of the day: Waking up and being cranky and posting unconstructive drivel like this.

More of a thought really, straight from windows update:
A problem has been identified in Filter Manager that can prevent you from installing updates from Windows update. You can help protect your computer by installing this update from Microsoft

Rant of the day: Concerning tailoring, RD, programming
Heh, I would like to note that RD doesn't allow any individuality, for example, we're not allowed to have any more sweaters since they wouldn't differ enough from the cable knit one we already have. When in real life cable-knitting is very tricky and should take far more than three days, and thus offering a plain sweater would be reasonable. Everything consists of nitpicking. By the time it's agreed that an item might be worth adding, so much time has passed that I have become totally bored with it and couldn't care less wether it's going to be added or not. You would imagine that writing a description, especially when a picture is available, would be a very simple task but it's not. Everything needs to be scrunched down to two, three lines tops, (expensive items can have a more detailed description). Combine this with waiting for days, sometimes even weeks, due to the other party being busy in real life. A valid argument against adding decorated versions of existing items is that if we add one, people will want every possible combination as well. That you would want bloody silk embroidered with bloody hemp.
And also no one's doing anything concerning splitting the different types of clothing sub categories on different pages, because this is apparently impossible due to Cantr programming being a clumsy patchwork without general plan or management. New things get added on top of old ones without anyone thinking about optimising the existing features. We have repeating entries in the database, while most used information is apparently scrunched down into the same cells. That's why we need to use code words so that the game can split them up.
The RD item update form includes 26 input areas, most of which are not used. It is seen on other websites (for example okcupid.com) how unneeded boxed can be hidden without reloading the page, but apparently either no one knows how to do this or then no one just cares. Here's some news for you, such could be done in Javascript. In fact, here it is, stolen straight from the source. Thanks a lot to who ever coded it.

Don't you hate when people listen to other people who have no idea whether something is impossible or not , and then grouch about without
speaking to any one who may actually know that it is not impossible,
or when people feel that an under resourced department should direct valuable programming resources to rewrite a whole interface using javascript so that we can have little opening and closing boxes when said interface is used on average once every 2 or 3 days for any actual changes of items
