Personally I am in favour of this suggestion, or at least something similar, General docking of like to like is probably too extreme for game balance, but docking to the few vessels which currently cannot be docked to by anything would be , as Doug says, in line with the principle that everything is accessable. It is, however, really up to RD to decide if this is accepted or rejected.

I was wondering where we are with this suggestion.

I believe there are more than a few crewless dinghies and darters floating around out there. Will there be no way to recover them?

hey if ships are gonna have a chance to sink with live crew we should have lifejackets implimented first lol so we can swim about at walking speed hoping to climb onto a stopped ship or the shore of a coastal town if you are close enough to one before you starve to death, PS, sneezing sickness would automatically hit you and you couldn't work on any projects, unless maybe if you could construct a life raft with resources in hand :P

Same with darters...

A dinghy should be changed so it can dock with other dinghies, and the darter should be changed so a dinghy can dock to it - as it is the dinghy and moreso, the sarter, are far too over-powered for any form of sea-warfare, being immune from docking is just far too powerful a bonus.

Look, how about a 'Steel Docker'? That way it stops some random newspawn with his shoddy dinghy stealing that dinghy off the shore of Kwor!!! :P

Costs a bit of steel and can dock to anything? It fits one person and is like a shiny metal arrowhead shaped boat, you could launch them from your bigger ship to dock to anything else.. Anyone else for 'Steel Dockers'?

 My concern isn't so much their use as a pirate vessel but instead that there is no way to recover these boats if out on the water when their crew dies.
I think having running a salvage operation would be a fun profession. :)

I think it is a bad idea.

Chris Johnson mentioned in the other thread that no area of Cantr should be inaccessible by design... I tend to agree. Plus it doesn't make sense that nothing at all can dock to a darter.

Sorry for the dupe, by the way. Forgot my suggestion etiquette 8)

Diffrent thought (sort of) same basic goal... We should be able to shoot Ranged weapons at other boats without boarding, and be able to tow them via grappling hooks (easy to cut loose by anyone active) to port... like this, we get lawmakers/pirates dukeing it out on the open seas, then draging the empty ship to port for salvage/loot.

I've supported this idea on other threads, I'll suport it again, and again, and again, until it happens... as well as any other sugestions that diversify weaponry. :D [/b]

I've always liked this idea, and since I don't want darters to change too much, I support it. And like someone said, it is not likely they will ever be built if they become dockable.

If it was just harder but not impossible. Currently if you drive right on top of something then you can dock instantaneously, and that can be kinda lame. If someone has a faster boat then they can easily follow a smaller boat around, then undock a dinghy and dock to the other vehicle. Maybe it could be random like for lock picking success? Be that a darter might be a lonely wolf's only chance at tormenting a whole town, but I still acknowledge that it's technically unrealistic that these boats cannot be docked to, not even when stationary.
