Sorry ...must reply to the post about pennsylvania.

It is after all my homestate.
I'm sure a lot of what you mention existed because of the huge population of amish! -And farmers
Today people are careless there just as they probably were back in the old days. Causing horse and buggy to go off road because of careless driving.
MY HUSBAND to be included-.....ignorant guy he is, drives by beeping in hopes to startle the horses.
I have no compassion or sympathy for wreckless drivers who get sued. Included are those who drive while using their cell phones, drive while drinking a soda from the last mc. dees they stopped at. And those who don't choose to obey the rules of the road. Driving is not something to be taken lightly and no matter how any of you wish to bash me for saying what I've just said, if cell phones- and drinks- and reading while driving etc were banned while driving an automobile instead of just a "moral law" , And people were pulled over and FINED outrageously for doing these things, can you imagine how many less accidents we'd have in the united states, let alone deaths?
If you hit me, because you were careless enough to pick up your cell phone and think "it won't happen to me, i won't wreck or injure anyone" You better believe I'm going to sue YOU! And if someone does something beligerant like my husband does - the beeping the horn in hopes for a laugh if it should startle the horses? I HOPE TO GOD they sue him as well!
People in the United States are inconsiderate, and selfish!
As far as plain accidents - ones such as human error go? Noone deserves to be sued for that type of thing. Like the man who just ran over so many people in Cali? At a farmers market? He doesn't deserve to be sued. I'm quite sure he feels terrible enough and probably won't be driving ever again.
And the MC Donalds lawsuits? Those are plain sick impo! Some people in the US also don't like to take responsiblity for their actions. Included is one of the first lawsuits Mc Donalds ever had- the guy with the cup of hot coffee who sued them because the lid didn't say it was "hot". It really makes you wonder- He probably would have sued them also if they handed him a cup of coffee that was luke warm for false advertising.
And the overweight lawsuits? People are either REALLY REALLY dumb, or REALLY REALLY money hungry or BOTH. Who in their right mind eats MC.Donalds and DOESN'T know it is so unhealthy? For god sakes you can taste the fat dripping right off the burgers!! DUHHHHHHH! Not to mention if you are overweight, it doesn't have to do with just the fast food you eat, but your over all life style! LAME!
Over the past year I've gotten pretty chunky- I have noone to blame but myself! It is sad that some people in this world feel their weight issues are to blame for someone elses cooking. Because this implies these people don't have minds of their own. Nor willpower or determination to eat healthy. The knowledge is and has been there for years on what and what not to eat. And noone can say that they have no access to the knowledge (unless they are homeless) for you're taught it in school. I remember the charts from as far back as first grade- and all the way up. So why do others not? Simply dumb people looking for money for some gastric bypass surgery.
And what about stores being sued for leaving boxes and such out in aisles- people tripping over them and suing? Thats also uncalled for. Pay attention to where you are GOING. And you wont fall! In relation to jeslanges post (i think) - suing them for tripping over a box that was obviously clear to see to lots of others, is not going to give you any more brain cells; or attention span.
I could go on and on and on....but I think there are some reasons for suing. Others have no basis- others don't deserve a small fraction of a second inside of a courthouse, much less the documents put into a lawyers hand!
