Guns - Older Types

Postby anomaly » Sun Jan 25, 2004 4:46 pm

I dunno if this has already been suggested but there r so many posts here, it's almost impossible to read em all  .

But how about some sort of guns.. and I don't mean guns like we have now, but the older types of guns. I dunno much about guns so I can't really give some names of old guns  but that would be cool, and then you would also need some gun-powder or something.

And how about ballistas orso, so u can destroy houses and vehicles like boats and all, or just 2 kill pple with 1 blow LOL...

Edited to make title more descriptive of subject. -rklenseth

I think there are enough weapons already without adding more of them in, it has been suggested before but it never hurts, the prospect of getting shot with an arrow doesn't exactly leave me jumping for joy let alone some iron/stone projectile at high speed.

I'd rather see kevlar added in.

Player x hits you with a ballista, dealing 100 damage (Your kevlar suit absorbs 100 damage) :p

But seriously though, just a shield is a bit weak. If your shield "blocks" something, why do you still take damage? Either it blocks 100% or 0%, it's not like your shield lessens the pain of a sword jabbing in your ribs by 60% or whatever. We should be incorporating the whole she-bang for % reduction. Helmets, Boots (some for added defense or athletic shoes to make you walk faster), greeves, body armor, gloves...

IRL it is possible for a shield to only partially block a blow, for instance a swing could skip off the edge and strike a glancing blow to an arm, leg, etc, or even if the blow is completly blocked, depending on the weapon, the force of the impact could do damage in itself, arrows could partially pierce the sheild, etc. The "all or nothing" way that the combat has been up until now was the main thing that completly unbalanced the combat system.

Well, If we used muskets thatwould make things interesting. A musket shot from a distance only goes a short way in past the skin. You could then have someone pull it out, causing another 5%-10% damage, but then you could heal. Also you have to load a musket which also takes a little time. You need to put the gun powder in the barrel your self, so if that feature was left up to the char. they could add as little or as much powder as they want. Too little equals a weak shot, perhaps not even harming the person. A little too much powder could cause a back-fire hurting you, or if you added way too much gun powder, it could blow up in your hand realy hurting you. We would have to experiment to find just the right ammount to use.

How bout something to strangle people with. Instant death, after awhile of strangling, but there is a chance they escape and do some damage to the guy who was trying to strangle. And it can only be used once a day, on one person.
I just can't stop coming back....

One time I got stabbed in a mall. Lucky for me, the movie theater was open. I bought a ticket and 2 bags of popcorn. In two hours and $11.00 worth of buttery goodness later, I was back to 100% strength.
