If indeed there is actually land in that direction. For all we know the oceans could be never ending. If they are not never ending then when exactally will you reach land. I would be more worried about my chars well being than the finding of imaginary land.

You leave dock heading west

You are hungry

You eat meat

You are hungry

You eat meat

You are hungry

You are hungry

Then you die of starvation on a ship and the ship sails forever in that constant direction. Untill it deteriates ofcourse

I thought if there where no charries left on a boat it would just stop completely as no one would be sailing the thing.

Boats do not deteriorate so far, although they should. Hmm, has anyone suggested those sea creapers whatchamancallem? that cling to the bottom of the boat and slow it down if they're not scraped off every once in a while?

And if there's no one alive on a boat, it stops. Before they used to go on forever, but I guess that was changed because of people undocking from a ship with a smaller boat and forgetting to stop the bigger vehicle - no way to catch the bloody thing!

Actually until it was fixed we did have barnacles ... or something a lot more sinister ... It used to be that all dead bodies buried at sea were still being included in the weight (and therefore speed) calculations for that boat ....

It's basically the status quo for sailors and navy servicemen. or it used to be...

For example, as the survivors of the USS Arizona die, they are entombed with the rest of the crew in the hull of the vessel, which for all those of you who know nothing of history, is underwater.

Also, servicemen killed in action are typically bueried at sea, unless this has stopped.

Funnily enough I heard someone was awarded a medal for mathematics and a prize of a million bucks, which he doesn't plan to accept, for coming up with a mathematical solution to the phyiscal nature of the universe along these lines...

You guys missed a chance there!

The Poincare conjecture? Not really relevant to this.

You mean you steal credit for discovering that the world is round and genocide native populations of the lands you delusionally call Japan, despite the lack of Japanese people?

Freak.

Nooooo! You're right! Fu**ing Eur***ans!
Spanish, english, french, dutch and portuguese have done an holocaust on these lands, exterminating races, such as the caribbeans and onas, among others.

Wilmer B.

I don't want to express my approval for these exterminations, but I can not agree with your generalization. If you make such statements you have to make it clear whether you are talking about the government(or its representatives like explorers and commanders) or the people. 99% of the men and women of those five peoples you sum up have had nothing to do with the holocausts you describe, especially with them happening overseas and caused by only small numbers of people (I ofcourse do not deny the wrongness in the views of the western superiority as it was expressed at that time(missionaries, inquisition, colonization,...) like it is expressed in these days).

ps: writing these because I just read an interview with a british pakistani who condemns the british and other western peoples of racism, disrespect and a whole load of other things while he himself sees nothing wrong with fighting and terrorism to install an Islamitic kalifate over the whole world.

Let this not discourage you from the discussion about the world's shape.

I also wonder whether there is anyone here who can express the string theory to me, I have been looking for an elaborate text about it but I have failed to 'grip' the idea of the theory so far,(probably due to my 3-dimensional view of the world and my incapacity to imagine advanced time-space relationships).
