I coulden't find anything about this.
I think it's just too easy to maintain your tools, weapons, sheilds and so on...
As it is now you can make yourselves a crossbow and repair it, when needed, without any problems. You don't need to have anything to repair it.
I think that the repair of things should involve resources. Say a percentage of the production resources depending on the level of decay.
IRL you have to add something to fix something like a tool. You can't just take it in your hands and hold it for a few hours to get it repaired. That is the case now in Cantr. That you just hold it for a few hours.
Mayby not the production resources, but mayby a few grams of sinew and rubber to repair a cracked shaft. And if the decay have gone really far it might require a percentage of the production resources to repair. But this mayby requires that the rate of deterioration have to be slowed down.
Repairing Tools and so on...

Wow this is stolen right from sociologist, hell, he even said this idea in the thread that's open about repairs right now, as well as in all of his long essay-like-things
"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we" - George W. Bush
