When was this implemented? One of my characters is 20 and he could fight. Wait... he missed;

If this is true, I can't say that I like it. Well, it does reduce those pesky newspawns getting themselves killed. But, still....

It's fairly old; I found a reference from 2004 (http://www.cantr.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3552).

Wow. I can't believe I didn't know this. I guess I just don't really attack as a newspawn. So, what happens when you try? Does it say you can't do it? Or, like my charrie, does it just make you miss?

It does not apply to a new character but in fact to a new player....

Thus preventing new players coming along and attacking everyone without understanding the the point of the game..

I'm not sure how many days it is before a new player can hit someone but if you create a new character as an existing player you will have no problems..

I think this restriction is important and should remain - the introduction to the game makes it clear its not a slash and kill game. If a new player just wants to attack I'm not sure it's a bad thing that they go elsewhere...

Not many new players would figure out that hitting yourself is a good way of determing skill in any case..

I wouldn't like to have once in a week a newspawn who attacks everybody in town to see how this game work. Just to kill him or put him in jail because he attacked everybody.

How would a new player feel if his first character just get killed within the first two days...or if he gets a punishment and have to sit in jail doing nothing for a year.

I don't think this will encourage new players to stick to this game.

Agreed. If the restriction is only for a few days, then it's a good restriction. I support it.

If a noob hits someone then guess what? He's gonna get battered to death! Ain't that fun? He's gonna get battered to death and then he'll get bored and quit. How about not letting newspawns hit anyone until they've seen someone hitting something, be that a person hitting an animal or an animal hitting a person or a person hitting a person? Since on the tabula rasa principle, a person shouldn't have an urge to use violence when they've never experienced such.

Mykey wrote:Could the violence restriction, for new accounts be tossed? :D I`m trying to help my cousin learn the basics, and just encountered an obsolete feature. First, new accounts likely have nothing, even if they do, since tiredness was implemented. It has become next to inconsequential, especially for a N00b. He`s only going to get 3-4 good hits anyways. I was going to show him fighting as his first skill... I guess it`s farming instead... :cry:
