Lower spawning age to 15 or 16

Characters that you have now won't be affected. They're not going to magically "have lived longer" because spawning age drops.

Well... Sho... I'm not looking for a characters' benefits with all this stuff, you know.

I'm just trying to show you all that spawning at age 15 (more or less) would give more playtime for future characters (and, of course, players!)

Except that playtime is generally the same, regardless of spawining age?

Average lifespan = average playtime

which is what I think you said in your previous post?

Are you kidding me? It is not!

Please refer to my last post. See the "death age" variable.

Chris Johnson said there was no limit for age in Cantr. So how can a "lifetime" variable could be set? Ok, spawning at 20, died at 40, for instance, lifetime is 20 Cantr years playtime . In average, of course.

So, he died at 40. The other one at 50, 60, 20, 35... Let's take an average of it. Let's say, 45? That's my "Death age" average. (nothing to do with the lifetime)

Lifetime = age of death - age of spawning
Death age = age of death

So, let's make an average of "death age" and then quit it the spawning starting point year.

As there is no limit on character age, playing time is determined by the player and how long they actually play the character.

Based on this an average playing time was given. This average playing time is not linked to spawn age, and thus remains the same regardless of spawn age, hence regardless of the spawn age the actual time spent by the player playing doesn't change.

Yes -But No.

Playing time is not determinated by players. Characaters could died because of animals, killings, starvation inside a cell, etc. Or yes, from quitting the game.
But all of them has a death day, and because of that, considering their individual age...
A "death age" can be simply calculated...

And then, an average...

But no death of natural causes, so age is irrelevant to playtime, so it's all about average lifespan, which is independant of spawn age.

It is relevant to the thread, although it does seem to be dominating it right now. Basically, lowering the spawn age does not make any difference to the amount of time available to play.

Earlier it was said that most newspawns act immature. I find this to be ridiculously untrue. Especially when a newspawn is played by a person who already has been in the game for many years. I guess when someone spawns there first character, they seem immature, but that is only because they havn't gotten the hang of the game yet. It is a stereotype that the younger you are in cantr, the more you are looked down upon..which I utterly hate. Anyway..to my point, I don't think we should change the age spawned because death hasn't even been implemented yet, and by decreasing the age of newspawns you degrade newspawns even more. Honestly I hate how people judge you by your age in cantr. I don't want to incourage that way of thinking by making newspawns even younger!

Yeas but don't you see... if you spawned at 18, in 2 cantr years you would be in your twenties instead of being in your teens and being looked down on. Society has always made assumptions and had differences in apporach to the young.
At the moment my 28 year old character arrives in a new town and people there can't tell him from a dozen other dozing newspawns that die of starvation.

Except for one major factor... if a charecter Arrives in town, then it's not simply abandoned. Movement from one town to another shows activity.

Right now, a newspawn can walk into town, and might have people believe that he's just as mature as everyone else, or a 29 year old can walk into town and convince them of quite the opposite through their actions.

All you do by dropping the age is point fingers at newspawns. However, this is completely unneccisary as it's a players actions and items, not his age that ultimately determine his/her status in a community.

And inactive 30 year old, staving himselfsomewhere where he/she knows noone has no more inherrent respect than the inactive newspawn who starves himself where he/she knows noone.
