Get your word into the "Cantr Song"

Postby Solutions Maximus » Wed Aug 09, 2006 3:01 am

Ok, everyone. Here's your chance to become song writers (kinda).

DJ_Sunni has agreed to play my Cantr Song on the radio when she's DJing.

Before I re-record this song, I want to add some words from the players of the game. So, if you have a topic you want me to sing about, or you have lyrics that you want me to use, post here.

This will be fun, so give me lyrics. :D

the topic should be a cantarians life put to song.

oh I wake up i tell them my name

I think everyone is insane

Nobody is talking to me

i'd better wait, better wait.

He said mushrooms wer magic things,

I thing they can fly with wings.

this one has a pretty blue spot

I'd bettery wait... better wait....

This guy dosen't like me at all...

Making him mad is not a verry good call...

He has stell and armor and stuff...

better wait.. better wait.

I get slashed by a pointy thing

Now I need some mushrooms to fling

I better run for mi life if i care

better wait, oh, i'd better wait.

The problem, of course, is knowing the tune, and even nowadays there must be one. I'm sure it's not this folk song:

A man in his twenties, he said unto me:
"I want to trade bones for some iron, don't you see?"
And this I replied as tears slid past my knee:
"Go take your bone club, son, and jump in the sea."

Can I get a mention as Phalynx the quitter....

Better to be infamous then anonymous!

LYRICS

Postby Solutions Maximus » Wed Aug 09, 2006 8:54 pm

ok this song is quite funny: (unfortunately, this may be the pinnacle of my creative genius)

(I have a little introduction, then I start:)

Out in the town popped a man, twenty and nude,
"I need a job, I'll even work for food",
He carried naught, but a hammer so crude,
he hadn't much to give except golden attitude,

Oh I wake up and I tell them my name,
I think everybody's gone insane,
With all these heros they're not to blame,
except the unnatural death, hear attack what a shame,

A man in his twenties said unto me:
"I want to trade bones for iron, don't you see?",
and, this I replied as tears slid past my knee:
"Take your bone club, son, and jump into the sea,

At this grad event the town had a great laugh,
Another pesky newspawn killed by a girraffe,
And a poor old man made swords and boats with love,
then he got skills and did none of the above,

One of the players stood out among the rest,
"My name is Phalanx" as he puffed out his chest,
He said he wanted to be know as the quitter,
Oh, such a shame, how'd he get this bitter? [ :P ]

So, I wrote this song for all out there,
Not to offend, no I wouldn't even dare,
Thanks a lot, Pie, you've made my day,
And, Ogg, your Rhymes are here to stay.
"Turn on, tune in, and drop out."

'Young bard, my lad, sing me an oldie
for old's time sake,' cried the yon oldbie
and so I did. 'Aye, aye' but I cloaked
a grin in tune as the ol' nite croaked

(hope that stanza worked for you; if the piece is already done, could be a prelude before the instruments)

Saves us the need for 'love' (and wooing) songs as are excessively present in the real world.

Ok, I worked out all the guitar.

The Rhythm progression (in case any of you guitarists out there wish to play it) is:

Verse: C - G - F - G
Then for the part about the old man: Am - D - F - D(m?)

Also, there is an instrumental part with a guitar solo. Hehe, it's kinda funny that this is actually about as good as mainstream music now-a-days. I'm going to self record it all my self (guitar, vocals, and bass). I can't promise that it'll have drums, but, it's pretty good as is.

Problem is: I need a new mic. So, once I get that, I'll record it and send it to Sunni. After its initial radio play, I'll put it on soundclick.com and post a link on the forums. Thanks for the help everyone. And, if you all want me to put a woman in there, I will. Just easier to sing man (one syl.), than woman (two syl.) :D

EDIT: Ok, first verse is now about a woman. lol :P clever, eh?
