What is the most fun to RP?

Postby Solutions Maximus » Sat Aug 05, 2006 8:10 am

What is it that you all enjoy RPing the most?

Is it corruption, murder, merchanting, pirating, etc?

For me, I like making charries think my charrie has a heart of gold, getting everyone to love my charrie, then pulling a 180 and taking over a town or murdering or some such thing.

I enjoy playing the beloved town leader, with a secret cruelness behind the scenes.

It's always more fun to have at least some sort of dark side, instead of always playing the perma-dogooder smiley cuddly love bunny types

Agreed.

Many of the greatest characters in stories, be they books or movies, have a dark side.

I just let my characters develop and play them as they evolve. Usually, every one ends up having an identity crisis at least once or twice, where they question what they are doing and the meaning of it all. The internal struggle is what interests me, and that struggle's effects on the world and people around them. Their role in life (leader, merchant, etc) is purely secondary to this, and is a stage to act these crises out upon. My characters never cease to surprise me. It's almost as if they have minds of their own...

lol, I gotta say, being totally obnoxious - and getting away with it. Dying or getting locked up over it = not so cool. Trickery is fun. Too bad it's so risky.

But also being nice and generous can be fun. When you got the wealth, people are so happy when you give them free gifts... Seeing the gratitude makes you feel like you're worth something.

I'd have to say I'm split on the "most fun" character I have.

My top three are a mix.
One is an absolute optimist, ready to sell his soul to help another stranger, if asked. But the fun is making him so helpful while trying to avoid sugar-coated happy-love-bunny syndrome.

One is outwardly helpful, but also have a selfish side, who managed to help remove the old leader to "smooth relations and prevent warfare" with a neighboring forest. Unfortunately, that one is now somewhat confused, not having another scapegoat around.

My third favorite, is just a mean old [young] man, who still manages to be welcomed as a curisity in a happy-town. He's tolerated, though still manages to get things riled up at times without pushing the limits too far and being locked up.

Ooooo, speaking of trickery.
Ever let your less-than-intelligent chars fall into a trap for the sake of interesting rp? When you knew it was coming, too?

It's a sacrifice, but can be interesting at times.

Gotta agree with this one too. :D My favorite chars are the obnoxious ones who get to mock people or constantly mouth off...most of them are actually really nice inside though, especailly to people who can appreciate there since of humor.

I've found they tend to mellow out and mature when they get older though... :( I'll have to work on that.

I think that comes with a character growing to love the characters around him/her. That's the way it was with one of my old charries. He wanted to take over the town he was in, but he grew to love the people there, so, he started being a lot more helpful.

Well, my most fun character has been locked up for three years now...

but my second most fun charrie is preaching to closed minded individuals, but finally trying to get them to like him.
Person: Akamada doesnt control the animals.
You see a wild boar attack Person.
Person: I still dont believe you.

Zanthos, your sig is hilarious.

I think it's fun to play characters with off-color quirks... people with weird names for things and weird fetishes like collecting flowers or eating nothing but meat.

My favorite archetype... of sorts... would have to be the removed observer. Not that these characters are inactive, they just take a step back and do what they need to do, putting in their comments here and there.

So far, i think being a Zealot for a religion is pretty fun to RP, cause, you can justify anything, and people just can't find an argument!
