Cantr Profession Demographic
I got pretty bored today and decided that this might be a cool little study to do on the forum. Basically, under which of these professions would you classify each of your characters? Try to get one per character.
Criminal: Any murderers, thieves, pirates, and the like fit here.
Guard/Military: Any town guards, military, or other weapon-toters (Stone Knights, Barons) fit here.
Government: If your character is a town leader or fits in the administration of a town or nation, they're classified here.
Cultural: Writers, artists, historians, poets, etc.
Theological: Devout religious worshippers and clergy go here. (This is a character that devotes most of his or her time to their religion.)
Business: Anyone who owns or co-owns a business, whether it be hotel or steelworks, fits here.
Laborers: Anyone who labors for a company or government fits here.
Explorer: Cartographers and naval explorers fit here.
Merchant: Traders and travelling peddlers go here.
Hunter/Fisher: It's tough, but anyone who hunts or fishes for a living goes here.
Unsure/Socially oriented: Everyone else goes here.
So far, including just my characters, it looks like this:
Criminal: 0
Guard/Military: 3
Government: 1
Cultural: 1
Theological: 1
Business: 2
Laborer: 1
Explorer: 2
Merchant: 1
Hunter/Fisher: 2
Unsure/Social: 1
TOTAL: 15
If you don't want to post but still want to be included, then PM me and I'll add your tallies.

I'm assuming that you pic the category your character most fits, for example a historian/business owner would put the one they spend most time on...
Criminal: 0
Guard/Military: 3
Government: 2
Cultural: 1
Theological: 1
Business: 2
Laborer: 2
Explorer: 3
Merchant: 1
Hunter/Fisher: 2
Unsure/Social: 1

Business: 2
Laborer: 2
Explorer: 3
Merchant: 1
Hunter/Fisher: 2
Unsure/Social: 1

If counting just mine, it would go
Criminal: 1
Government: 2
Theological: 1
Business: 1
Explorer: 1
Merchant: 1
Unsure/Social: 6
Total: 13
Though my criminal would consider himself an explorer, and one of my socials might be considered a merchant of a sort. But anyway, the wide number of unsures explains my loss of inspiration lately.
But if we're supposed to make a combined list then...
Criminal: 1
Guard/Military: 3
Government: 4
Cultural: 1
Theological: 2
Business: 3
Laborer: 2
Explorer: 4
Merchant: 2
Hunter/Fisher: 2
Unsure/Social: 7
TOTAL: 31
Criminal: 1
Government: 2
Theological: 1
Business: 1

Merchant: 1
Unsure/Social: 6

Well, I have one character who doesn't fit into any of these categories, so I will be forced to make the category: spy/diplomat
Also, my Stone Knight is more of a town leader then he is a guard.

Business: 1
Laborer: 1
Explorer: 2
Merchant: 4
Hunter/Fisher: 1

Just because you're older, smarter, stronger, more talented... doesn't mean you're BETTER.

It's weird, a lot of mine have been several of these throughoput their lives, but I'll just post what they currently are:
criminal: 1
guard: 0
government: 3
cultural: 0
theological: 1
business: 1
laborer: 3
explorer: 0
hunter/fisher: 0
merchant: 1
hunter: 1
unsure: 2
I think one important category that's missing here is 'philanthropist'. (It's sort of like 'business' I guess, only you make things to give them away and help people.)
