Most Famous and Infamous Characters
I know it's an old one....
It just keeps me wondering how some chars get famous/infamous and keep that reputation for years
e.g. Maynard, although he hasn't apparently hurt a fly for ages, many people still see him as the archvillain in the KDSf-region.
Sester Gartaf is another one
Piers Anthony will likely be one in future
And there are others....

I think it all depends on how extreme a chars actions are, whether good or bad...and of course how long they manage to stay alive afterward, that ends up making them famous or infamous...however, I would have to wager that there are many more infamous chars then famous in Cantr.

Gregor MacGregor has left quite a lot throughout the Krif Region.
Unfortunately, it seems Craktar has been all but forgotten. Quite sad, as that was my favorite Villain, and also some of my favorite times.
How about the great map-makers? The Clarke system? Or the maps themselves. Quite a few people here, but I don't know how to spell their names.
Purple Tortoise didn't leave to much in game legacy, but I bet most of us won't forget her any time soon.
I think it was Zak DoUrden that started the mercenary business. That business is having some large affects recently. More than many know, I bet.

Cool, I am tied fro first with two infamous characters (Zak DoUrden and Sester Gartaf)!
Cliff doesn't even play anymore but two of his characters are still infamous (Alexi Romanov and Craktar).
There are still some in the Krif/Drojf/Seatown Region that remember Craktar the Vampire. Problem is that most people came after his time (I would say due to the wars and violence killed off most of the older people) so that is where the problem lies with Maynard in that most of his past has been forgotten and none of the newer characters in the region won't listen to those who still speak out against him.
Wu Tang was never really infamous. Famous, yes, but not infamous. He was probably the first leader to ever actually unite areas through peace instead of war.
Other characters I would add;
Purple Tortoise
Richard Cromwell
Ryan McConnel
Jonathan Russell
Alyssa Bellino
Korgan Bloodaxe
Tony Stewart
Alexa Castellese
Elanor Roi
Donna Trent
Maily Yumm
and many others that I can't think of

It's real sad that the collective memory in Cantr is quite short minded. I mean: when a character is dead, he will almost always disappear out of the memory of almost everybody. That may be because of a lack of written history, I don't know. For example: Who remembers the once famous major of Quillanoi, Mr. Thistlethwaite? Or, a Quillanoi Major even some time later: Keldorn Firecam? (By the way: a man with the same name is now important in Karnon Forest)
Maybe more historical writings would be a solution? I myself have never seen any historical overview in game. Do these kind of notes exist anywhere?

Well the historical writings exist. Easle has many of them in his inventory and most of them were in the public eye back when Easle had the library freely open. At least until people began stealing notes from the library. I also think many character ignore the history and are quite set on what is currently happening and what might come in the future.

If you ask the right people you can get detailed info about Krif that dates back to the early 200's, and due to the excellent work of Tom Smith (who I think will be considered famous not far in the future) the history of Krif isn't going to fade away anytime soon.
It is also possible to get the histories of Siom and Lad dating back that far, but no material has been wrote that gathers everything together in one easy to read volume, yet.
