Or better yet, why not?

If you mean deleating old threads (if no one has posted for 2 years or something) I think it is a good idea.
The following statement is not true.

We permanently lock very, very few threads - I don't see the need? If you want to access older threads, just change the page at the bottom of the screen.

No it shouldn't. It's a suggestion, friend. :D

And I'm for this. On my own forums I have 'Locked Posts- A Museum of Spam'.. lol, it's lots of fun because it's a locked forum with locked posts so users can just view the fools who made silly posts! ;)

To go off-topic. I don't find the forums easy to navigate. I know this is beyond the remit of Prog D as it's a bought in thing, but...
How, once you've replied to a topic, do you get back whence you came?
From what I gather, the only "back" button is on a page that appears then vanishes again before I've a chance to find it. Using the browser's back button means I have to go back 5 or 6 times to get back to where I started.
My solution, when I remember, is to open a new window before replying, which is OK as long as I *do* remember.
Any ideas?

When a reply is made, the forum generates a page with links to the thread you just posted on, and to the forum that thread was in. As soon as that page loads though, it immediately begins loading the thread which the reply was posted on, so the page changes very quickly.

If possible, you could try to remember to 'stop' the loading of pages as soon as the in-between page has loaded. That should stop the forum from redirecting straight back to the thread.

Alternatively, every page on the forum has, near the top, links to both the main forum index page, and the forum area in which the thread is located.

If you have a thread open, there will be the thread title, the thread pages, if there are any, a new topic button, a post reply button, then links to the 'Cantr II Discussion Forum Forum Index' and the particular forum the thread is in.

Hope that helps?

Yeah, like Aldwitch said, it's a locked forum thing with all the locked threads in it.

What's hard is when a thread is deleted and lots of comments refer to something that is not there, or you get a topic notification for a thread that is not there..

If a thread is delted it would be nice if it was replaced with a short message saying its gone and perhaps briefly why...?

What deleted threads?
Whole threads are very very rarely deleted outright...
