ah, quillanoi...last time I was there, they attacked and threw someone in prison for, what was it again? ah yes...talking....and then, because all they could do was talk, and not start a trial, the person was murdered in prison, because they put a known murderer in the same cell...oh, and I'l bet he was never tired either.....and most of the time, all the quillanoi government does is make stupid policies, that nobody really wants...taxes for instance...what are they for?!?! what does the government use the taxes for??!?!?! they don't do anything...I guess the taxes are so, they can have the funds to make more taxes....lol

*kicks Quillanoi*
Anyways, I too voted two. Heh. But to exceptions of course, as I do not agree with a Totalitarian Monarchy/Empire for the reasons of Curroptions and Insanity. Just look at the tons of people who had absolute power, and abused it, like Ivan the Terrible all the way to Stalin, and thats just looking at one Country. What I agree with is something like what Britain has in place, a Monarchy(Royalty)/Republic(Parliament).

I have not voted yet but I don't think their are enough options.
Councils work but it depends on who is on it and how they are.
Monarchies work well to but they are hard to keep if you ensure you are stronger then your subjects and control them well then fine your in the spot but is that really good?
a town vote might work if there weren't people out there who just want to make trouble just because they can. Hmmm Aries comes to mind...
No goverment sounds nice and works if you don't have anyone come in who wants power of for themselves Hmmm...another name comes to mind but I'll keep it to myself...
I've seen other types out there like the clan system and the tribe one too but they only work if you have some type of agreement with the locals who tend to have there on way of enforcing the laws on you.

Somehow you strayed and lost your way,
and now there'll be no time to play,
no time for joy,
no time for friends
- not even time to make amends.
You are too naïve if you do believe life is innocent laughter and fun.

I'd have to say that Olipifirovash North maintains order very well, but maybe that's just because there aren't a lot of people. Anyway, most criminals are dead and buried in under a day. People don't like the rather strict laws though.

You are completly entitled to your opinion, but in my opinion, your character was shot and jailed for trying to start a coup that would over throw the town. It's unfortunate that your character was killed by another inmate, but that had happened within' seconds of your character being put in jail. The character that killed yours had a trial and is still serving his time, in confinement.
I've paid taxes since I was 16, in real life, so I guess if your a grown up then your not to bothered by taxes in the game and can see the value in them. Besides, it's like 15 Quii per year in Quill. You could sell some stone to the bank to make that. And you don't know what they're used for because you didn't take the time to find out.

Of course, this is an IC matter, and I shouldn't discuss it here, but ..... taxes are for the most part used to pay the guards, which are quite necessary to protect the safety in Quillanoi. Often I have the feeling that other cities only work well because of somewhat bad roleplay. Far too many characters seem perfectly happy digging in stone for all their lives, or working in some kind of iron mine, without getting any housing, money, clothes, but just some potatoes or so. If you really try to imagine the kind of jobs so many characters have, and the kind of things they get in return, isn't it a bit odd that so many people are happy nonetheless? The Quillanoi system tries to do it differently - it has probably the only paid guard, and people that dig for something can actually trade it and buy something they want, e.g. rent a house. If you think a bit more about what most characters would like, wouldn't the Quillanoi situation be much nices than many other cities?
Of course, for many other characters it is different - e.g. in Lad. it might give just a great feeling to be contributing to the magnificent empire, or a character might just live to fulfill his dream of being a sailor and explore the seas ... but in many other cases?

Done, and Done.
There are a surprising amount of people IRL that are content doing the same thing all their lives, but I agree that there is some bad RP out there.
For example all the chars who spawn and say "Where can I get some steel/a weapon"
You tend to like big government, doncha Jos? beaurocracy and totalitarianism. They are more interesting from an overhead view, i admit.

I don't agree about quillanoi being a good government, mostly because the only people it really works for are guards or politicians, everyone else is not helped at all.....but about all those places where people just sit there mining, I agree, makes no sense...none of my characters do that, unless they are forced to....

First of all, it was my char hehe. Second, she had been in jail for quite some time before they threw a guy with weapons into the prison who killed her. But i see now, that you had to or he would attack citizens. Better the innocent prisoner than the citizen....but I do wish they had actually had a trial for her

I just can't stop coming back....
