Wrong spawn location

Postby Skulty » Tue Jul 25, 2006 9:21 am

When is the spawn location in the portuguese area going to be fixed?
Chars are spawning in the Lithuan area and it is taking all the fun from the game. :(
I'm even letting some of my chars die just because I can't have fun with them when I'm the only portuguese speaking char in miles!
I've already posted this bug in Flyspray but it says it's still unconfirmed.
Maybe it has already been fixed and they didn't change it in Flyspray, I don't know, but I don't feel like creating another possible suicidal char just to confirm it. :?
If it is too hard to fix please just tell me when you fix it so I can start creating chars again.
Sorry for being so stuborn but I don't know where else to turn.

There are four portuguese characters and four lithuanian characters in the location where last your character spawned. So tell me - is it Lithuanian or Portuguese area?

Well, I can't be sure, but it ought to be the Lithuan area.
I looked at the map there (little one in the location menu) and at the map of the whole portuguese area one of my chars has (map made of the little ones refered back there) and I couldn't find where my char was in the big one.
The reason because there are so many portuguese chars there is because all the portuguese chars are spawning in that exact location (at least my four last chars did and some chars from a friend of mine did too).

There's no teritory called Purtuguese area. The area is where Portuguese chars are, so different areas can overlap. Chracters are spawned where other characters of the same language are. That's all, nothing broken, so nothing to fix.

So, supose a boat with a bunch of portuguese guys arive in a island full of lithuan guys.
Is it possible for the portuguese characters to start spawning constantly in that place leaving the "portuguese area" (original island) possibly deserted?
But there's a chance that they'll spawn in the "portuguese area", isn't it?
If there is I'll try to create five more chars, but if none of them spawn in the "portuguese area" you bet I'll have them starving to death cause I'm really getting tired of that Lithuan Island!

That's right.

As I wrote - the more Portuguese chars in location - the bigger chance your another character will spawn there.

Ok, now I'm going to talk nonsense, probably, but take a look at this.
Portuguese chars, somehow, started spawning in the "lithuan area".
Portuguese players get tired of it and let their chars starve to death right where they are born.
There's a specific location where portuguese chars are acumulating due to the refered points up here.
Does this mean the probability for the portuguese chars to spawn there will keep increasing like hell?
The problem is that in the "portuguese area" there's little chars per location and there's no big city where they'll eventualy spawn.
I know the intention behind this spawning method is good but it really isn't working for portuguese players.
But well, I'll just create some new chars, take them away from the Lithuan main spawning area and hope one of them spawn in the "portuguese area"...
I'll come here soon to tell you how it worked.

No, probability is not linear - it equals to square root of character count in the locations.

Well, now this is strange...
Strange, but great!
I created four chars in a row and they all spawned in the "portuguese area"!
I'm so damn happy!!! :P
Sorry to have bothered you but the last time I tried something like this I'm sure they spawned all in the same damned Lithuan location.
This time even the spawning locations were different.
Thanks for helping me and for giving me courage to try again.
Now I can finally get back to work (in Cantr of course :P )!

Then the Portuguese players need to stop doing that and learn how to deal with it like every other language group. My German characters are speaking more Spanish these days than German. The Spanish are moving in and taking over. And I hear the Polish have started to show up in English territory now. Whee!

Well, somehow I think it won't be needed anymore.
Four chars spawning in the portuguese area probably means the system really is working.
But I still think something had to be wrong before.
How can a dozen characters spawn in the same location almost at the same time?
It was a really big coincidence. :P
Well, but I don't really care about that as long as my chars start to spawn in diferent places.

As i remmember (i may be wrong) your characters can spawn where at least two other your language group characters is. Or at least was that day ;) So it is possible that you spawn and no-one around. Or no-one of your language group. And second thing i remmember about spawning is that your new characters are spawning at most distant location from other your characters. So if at least two portuguese characters arrived at lithuanian island then there is very big probability, that new characters will start spawn there, and not in portuguese area. I know this because some time ago (much more like 4 days) two lithuanian ships arrived to portuguese area and we got several new spawns there ;) So there left no lithuanian or portuguese areas - they are mixed now. Learn lithuanian language. IG. And try to do this as interesting as possible.

EDIT: P.S. If you want to stop spawning at lithuanian area, split your starving newspawns. If there is only one portuguese character in location there is no chances for newspawns. (if i remmember right)
