firepit project names
Simple suggestion. Change 'Grilling meat', 'Cooking meat' etc. into 'Grilling meat (wood)'.
I think this would save people a lot of dumb mistakes and frustration.

I like this idea. I "locked" some pairs of small pits when I was a newbie

Agreed! I've made the smae mistake as a newer player, and have a seriously frustrated character who had his cook-fires locked up due to teh same activity from newspawns. They really were sorry, but not knowing where wood is with those characters, I'm slightly irritated at jsut seeing a non-smouldering circle of firepits just useless for the last year.
Sorry, that came out a lot more rant-y than I should have...but proves my agreement! Might save others the hassle someday, if it said (wood) for the default grilling activity.

Hmm that would help, altho i doubt it's enough to save you from clogged fire pits. Well i'm glad they only take 2 or 3 hours to build.
It's a very long list which doesn't help the newspawn. Projects we use a lot should be up in the list. The projects could be ordered by fuel as well as by recipe as they are now.

I doubt that it would really solve the problem of locked firepits. I don't think the much of the player base these days is capable of distinguishing the difference between "Grilling meat (wood)" and "Grilling meat (dung)" anyway. Besides, even the best of us click the wrong buttons in a hurry.
I clogged a firepit because "Cooking meat (pot)" and "Cooking meat (big pot)" are too close to each other.
We could probably go through with the update. It isn't like the firepit project dropdown is going to look anymore cluttered because of it.

Ok, there may be at least a hundred mistakes players can make but we can easily help them a bit.
Add (wood) to the text describing the project if wood is needed. Start the list with the projects that are used most often to save people from searching thru a list that is too long (if we keep adding meals it will get even longer), i'd say drying dung is first but that's only my experience. A poll will tell us quickly.
We could consider at the start of setting up the project making the player choose which fuel is used, so the list shown is only half as long.

How about a multiple drop down window.........you click meat, which takes you to the drop down menu of choices of fuel and pots. That way the food menu doesn't continue to be almmost unusable, and people might be less likely to click the wrong one if the choices are seperated.
(And if that doesn't happen, it would be far easier to find things if all meat was together, all the potatoes, all the stews, etc., in alphabetical order perhaps. Right now it's rather a mish-mash.

Implemented:
Project names updated on firepit to reflect wood as fuel type.
I will go ahead and say that as soon as ProgD can take care of a technical issue, I am hoping to make a change to separate pots into transportable machinery. This will help with the project organization a bit more. they will work like buckets and mixing bowls do now at that point.
So, you will carry your stone pot up to the firepit and set it down. You will then start the project from the stone pot, which will have a smaller drop down menu then and should hopefully be easier to navigate.
Discuss amongst yourselves...

Firepits and fireplaces, not ovens. The big stone pot would look like this, for reference...
Cooking mashed potatoes (dung) (firepit)
Cooking mashed potatoes (wood) (firepit)
Cooking mashed potatoes (wood) (fireplace)
Cooking meat (dung) (firepit)
Cooking meat (wood) (firepit)
Cooking meat (wood) (fireplace)
Stewing meat and barley (dung) (firepit)
Stewing meat and barley (wood) (firepit)
Stewing meat and barley (wood) (fireplace)
Stewing meat and vegetables (dung) (firepit)
Stewing meat and vegetables (wood) (firepit)
Stewing meat and vegetables (wood) (fireplace)
As you can see, it would be lumpy, but that is still a lot shorter than what we have to deal with now.
This will also allow us to add metal pots to the game with various different fuel efficiencies, cpacaities, etc. It should be a nice expansion.
