Seeing people die

Postby Surly » Sat Jul 08, 2006 7:42 pm

With the removal of the death sense, I have started to think... without the name going white, it is very easy to completely miss a character dying. To try and redress this balance, perhaps we should we should have greater visibility of death? e.g. You see a man in his twenties perish of starvation, You see a man in his twenties suffer a heart attack...

The starvation one would involve just rewording the current reaching 0% strength phrase (although I doubt anything is ever that easy :P ), but I think if you can see heart attacks, then the whole case of seeing people die would be solved.

Reactions?

I think it is a great suggestion, but heart attacks.... How would cantrians even know what a heart attack is? I`d be much happier seeing.

1598- 1.19: You see a man in his twenties, suddenly burst into flames. Screaming, and consumed with pain, he runs in a circle, with arms flailing, until he collapses into a charred corpse.
I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

I am so clever that sometimes I don't understand a single word of what I am saying.

Considering it's already described on the body description as a "heart attack," it won't make it any worse to put it in the death event.

I like this idea. I'm not sure why we can't see heart attacks already.

Can we apply this just to Mykey's characters? Now?

That would be pretty kool. But I would not see the reaction

Hmm. That reminds me.

Cause of death should be added to the death email you get.

I have been reliable informed that the death event doesn't happen for heart attacks because from time to time PD wish characters to dissapear discretely... Not a good argument in my book because the body still sits there, although it may delay the discovery by some time I spose..!

I give my support to this suggestion, it can be a pain to figure out who died in a town when someone picks up a bunch of stuff and buries the body before you get online.

I do not know of this as being the argument against it. First time I've heard it. That a character is killed off by PD would not show up.......just that they had a heart attack. No different than any other heart attack, and the bodie's still there saying that's what it was. *shrugs*

I really like this suggestion.......all deaths should get a death event, except those newspawns who die without being activated......the ones that don't even leave a body.

Thanks Oasis - I was going to ask you privately if PD did require a silent assassination mode ;) - I'll take that as a no . I'll move this to accepted suggestions.

Certain deaths will still not be visible (primarily chars who have never been active)
