See, what I don't get is that in the "If you could bring back one char from the dead" thread Pink, Suzie and Naleph have been mentioned.

Why is that OK? They were part of the war. It's not possible to say that everyone knows this news. Why is it OK to grieve Kworians but can't mention TBR deaths because that would spoil things for people?

I just see a double-standard going on.

I understand what you mean. These have been isolated discussions, and I haven't seen anything wrong with them (other than that others will find out they died, when their char doesn't know yet)

The difference between that and what is being proposed is.... isolated discussions of single events/deaths versus an all out "anything goes" type of thing that scares me. No one has said they were allowed, let alone "only Kworian deaths can be discussed". I didn't see anything discussed that bordered on divulgances that shouldn't be known, so I let them be. *shrugs* Should I not have?

The deaths of certain characters, IMO, have perhaps the highest degree of impact upon the game. If players are allowed to divulge this information in various threads, then opening up the topic for general discussion really can't hurt much more. I mean, the game is about the characters. What is more important than who died and who lived?

Most things are more important. Some lives still hang in the balance....

Pink was not a part of the war... She never went to the war.

Good grief, is everyone still harping on this? I thought this thread was dead.

Initially we weren't even talking about cheating, just OOC discussion of things long past. According to the much expanded 40 day rule it is now OK to speak about some of these events and people do speak of them...everyplace except the forums.

I have had people contact me thru IM, PM and private IRC wanting me to be in on their OOC groups but, like Schme, "that's not the way I roll." Mostly because I'm not very interested in chatting with people especially now when it is difficult for me to spend much time online.

Okay, now, this wasn't very clear. Is it just the time issue, or are you saying you don't 'roll' with talking about the stuff OOC over PMs and IRC, because you think it's wrong? In that case how is it any righter to blab about it all over the forums? PMs would probably be less damaging overall, unless the people talking were deliberately setting out to cheat.

And saying 'I miss Bob' or 'It's too bad Sue died' in another thread isn't anywhere on the level of "It's totally not fair that Sue was murdered by Joe because she was just going to this town to do this in retaliation for that, oh but I'm sure Sally will make them pay when she carries out her plans to do whatever."

If its on the forum it in the open and you can't cheat, PMs emails etc, uits hidden and then cheating has got to be more likely

Like Kinvoya, I don't have the time to get chatting via PMs, irc, e-mail or whatever - but I'm pretty sure some people are - and there's nothing wrong with that.

At least, on the forums, the CD and PD can keep an eye on it more easily, and as long as the topic is titled correctly, people who don't want to know, will not read it.

Or probably... should not read it, because for some, the temptation would be too great. ;)

Or some have to read it because it's their job, and they'd rather not.
