[quote="Pie"]This is a GREAT IDEA!!! COMON!!! the only people who don't like this would be CRABBY OLD SEDIMENTARY CANTR OLDIES..... and there the ones controlling the cantr world... THIS TOPIC HAS NO CHANCE!!![quote]

Au contraire. Us crabby old sedimentary oldies will be the ones BUILDING these things, to quickly and efficently remove characters like yours from annoying us.

Please, add these, quickly, before I have to put up with Pie's characters any more. Ryoko would love one of these for Adam these days.

Speaking of, if we are going to have instant kill devices, can we hunt with them?

You see a man in his twenties leading an elephant up to the gallows.

Willingly I accept. An interesting theme, I will take part. Together we can come to a right answer. I am assured.

I don`t like this idea, just because I think its too soon, so much more could be done with combat.

I don't think you should be killed imedeatly, no chance for the poor victam, you should loose about 20% strength a day (and there should be a like 25% chance of the machine malfunctioning and the person falling off every day).

Just my opinion (not that it matters what I think).
The following statement is not true.

Thats plain stupid, then it would be quicker and more realistic just to use currrent methods..

no offense!

I like the idea but I'm not sure how balanced it would be. I guess it might be okay if you had to drag someone inside, then needed like three or four people to operate it? And if they wake up before you got enough people on the project they could run away and you'd have to kill them the old fashioned way.

(And Agar, you don't need a gallows for Adam, since he's to macho to 'beg' for equipment all you have to do is point him in the direction of the hematite and let the animals deal with him.)

It'd need a lock...

"You see a power mad newspawn drag Lord Angus Macgreggor to the gallows"

Phwoaaah! Not good, yes so lock, yes... mmh.

Why the insistence on making this overy complicated... it will no doubt take a lot of work to build, machine nearly always do...
It will take resources.. probably timber etc..

Using the simplest suggestion it will take 4 - 6 people 8 cantr hours uniterrupeted... it might only take 2 people to drag someone off the project thereby inactivating it.

None of this can take place without a lot of time and energy and probably the cooperation of half of a middle size town..

Why make it more complicated with locks etc..

And this is something that should only be able to be made outside, in the town square....

Yeah, thats the whole point of a gallows. I only meant have a lock so some person who is really good at dragging can't capture the town leader somehow...

The whole thing is too much bother then. On Aki, three people need a mere two hours of real life time to kill someone off. Gallows would only slow things down.

Yep, the 'complication' with public executions is that they are public. Extra mechanical doodads are pointless. If there was a lock then the person with the key will be the judge...
So long as there is a suitable delay between someone being put on the machine and the end thats all thats needed!
Yuk yuk yuk.

Perhaps, to balance it out, you could only drag someone who was injured over a certain percent into the gallows. If the limit was set fairly high, it'd still take pretty much the same amount of time to kill someone, but we'd gain the chance to read out one's crimes, or make it a long drawn-out public execution or something.
I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer.
