I have another character that is more involved in the war than the one that died

Well, at least she will be involved... As soon as her friend wakes up.

In which case its pretty unfair of you to say that it shouldn't be discussed here.. you have your finger on the pulse and don't need, or prsumably want, to know about it...

I think we should not discuss it just to piss Phalynx off even more.

I don't even care about the actual discussion, I will be too lazy to read it all- its more the principle of it...

I believe there is a cartel of people here who are doing all the discussing they want out of the forum and all they want is to ensure noone else does it...!

The forum really should be for everybody. Including players who chars are actually concerned with these matters!

I don't know a lot of what's happened. And don't want to, yet. Please let us find out more in game.

Phalanx: Were I to give my own char's story here at this point it would obviously be inappropriate, likely even to you. That's a problem, as well. There cannot be any real discussion. Yet.

Exactly my point from the beginning, Phalynx. I just forgot to use the very impressive word "cartel." :)

Very simple, Sanchez. We can start a new thread with the word "spoilers" in the title and you can not read it if you choose.

I am very intrigued with this idea of the "cartel".

Tell me.... is there any basis for this assumption or is it simply paranoia talking?

Or are you a member of a cartel?

I have seen brief little windows into it... if I spoke out there would be trouble... I just wish that people who want to be purist stay out of the forum... discussion of any in game issues in the forum introduces OOC influence, that is its nature, but it is a public clear way of doing ir rather than other alternatives.

I want to talk about things without being cloak and dagger and messenging and pming people...

Okay... seriously. Here is my point. Some people cheat. We all know that. But does that mean we should throw out all rules and parameters of gameplay because of it? No.

I am also not of the opinion that most people cheat. I think it is a very small number, in fact. I'm sure that the cheaters would like to think otherwise. But.... that is only because they are trying to justify their behavior.

Go ahead and speak out it you think there's unfairness.

Better than casting aspersions on honest players.

But, I'm only asking you to wait on the details. That's purist?

Initially we weren't even talking about cheating, just OOC discussion of things long past. According to the much expanded 40 day rule it is now OK to speak about some of these events and people do speak of them...everyplace except the forums.

I have had people contact me thru IM, PM and private IRC wanting me to be in on their OOC groups but, like Schme, "that's not the way I roll." Mostly because I'm not very interested in chatting with people especially now when it is difficult for me to spend much time online.

As for the "cartel" thing...I'm not even sure exactly what it means. A crime organization I think. But in my case, I was joking about it, cause I thought it was a funny word. *sigh emoticon*

Also, I have reported cheating when I thought I had proof and saw results of my actions even though I got no formal reply.

It was my impression that PD would make the decisions about what could be discussed at what point. I don't think it is very polite to jump on someone because he is asking about an update on this.

dictionary.com wrote:car·tel Audio pronunciation of "cartel" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (kär-tl)
n.

1. A combination of independent business organizations formed to regulate production, pricing, and marketing of goods by the members.
2. An official agreement between governments at war, especially one concerning the exchange of prisoners.
3. A group of parties, factions, or nations united in a common cause; a bloc.

Such is the definition of cartel according to dictionary.com though it is generally used in reference to drugs and other various illegal activities (or at least that's the most of what I've heard it used in reference to).

For the most part, the war is over. However, there is still a lot of activity going on, lots of which I'm sure I don't know about. To hear that "a loser just got back to the main island" is not something I want to hear. It makes me think about who it could be, what are they doing. I can't help it. I'm human, even if my char is Cantrian. That doesn't mean my char is going to know that info, but I hate knowing something my char can't.............and after a while, if you hear too much ooc, you start to forget what your char knows, and what it is only you know.

My fear for opening this up is that waaaaaaay too much information will be divulged. Things that will matter to those still alive. Things that could change the course of events yet to come.

We haven't had a lot of major conflicts such as this, and none that I can ever remember being openly discussed on the forum for all players to read and likewise divulge their stories, especially while the conflict is still fresh.

They have been told, as stories, years later, once most of the chars are long dead. For example, I couldn't imagine discussing events in the KDS region, another area where there has long been very major conflict.......because so much of it is interlinked, ongoing, over years. Maybe my memory fails me, and if I'm wrong on this, some of you olbies please correct me. But I can't imagine that we ever did.
