Still working on the transmitters. The recievers should be available in the cabins now.

I still think sloops should be able to have cabins. You could make it so sloops can't dock to land anymore if you want... that never made sense to me in the first place. Even with a small sloop, beaching it is not a good thing to do.

Edit: I'm going to put my sloop ideas into their own forum in the suggestions forum now so I don't clutter this thread up any more.
All of my endings are waiting to begin.

Considering sloops take far less to make than a darter and is both faster and able to cary more. I don't think you should take away the only thing the darter has over the sloop.

The Darter doesn't even have that advantage over a sloop - Cabins and holds are limited to vessels which require a coaster harbour and/or landing stage to dock to land - Ferry's, Soarers, Rakers, Galleons and Skimmers are the only vessels where you can build cabins or holds.

another reason to have the sloop require a landing stage or coaster harbour and allow it to have cabins or holds

Well, if the Sloop cannot have a cargohold or cabin, how about just lockable storage? I know a dinghy can be used as such.. but when you are a loaner.. it is hard to get that dang thing docked to your sloop..

No it's not - it's a reason to build a Raker or a Soarer - why change the sloop, it has a function as it is - Why inconvenience all those players who have sloops because it's the fastest vessel which can dock to land.
If you want a boat with cabins there are options available.

because it's misnamed

That's a sloop, defined in the wikipedia article as any boat having a fore and aft rig. You can just about see the cabin in the centre, and as for docking without a harbour or landing stage, forget it, you'll destroy the keel and run it aground.

So what ? Thats as defined in RL. In Cantr its defined as a boat which can carry up to 4 passengers and upto 340000g of weight - it can dock to land . That's what it can do in the game and it's unlikely to change

Thank you for that. It would kill all those explorers out there that could never find a place to dock if it instantly couldn't dock to land.

I'm in favor of Chris' earlier suggestion (in another thread?) to just either do away with RL equivalent names all together (and have say, Class A Ship, Class B ship, etc) or to think of new names for everything that don't have RL associations attached to them. This would go for roads and all vehicles.

The problem is that some things in Cantr are given RL names, but their attributes and functions don't match the meanings of those names.

Having descriptions of what each vehicle, machine, or object looks like and does would help alleviate the problem.

The question is, do you want to abide by the established meanings of words, force everyone to relearn what they mean in a Cantr context, or let people make their own names up (only possible with object descriptions).

In my opinion the easiest is to abide by established meaning. Having different meanings for words, like sloop, in Cantr only causes confusion amongst people who expect objects to behave differently, and letting palyers name objects would probably cause a riot.
