One: how do you know I'm not filthy rich?
Two: I am middle class, and I'm talking about the relative top. I'm higher than they are on the economic ladder, so I'm at the relative top (no one's complaining that rich people are mistreated right? Good.) and they're at the relative bottom (Because junkies don't count).

I'm dead serious when I say that I've never seen a disgruntled mexican.......
Maybe you don't know any Mexicans. Everyone get's angry, Mexican or not.
Nalaris wrote:yet I've seen dozens of all mexican groups doing construction jobs, cleaning white people's houses, and I've heard of them being used on farms. But I've never seen any of them who didn't seem content.
Alright, here man. See, the thing is, even if you're oppressed, and you're upset about being oppressed, that doesn't mean you're going to be a fu.cker about it.
Sure, they don't have it great, but they still got to pay rent and put food on the table, right? That's not gonna happen if people wander around all the time grumbling "Damn whites, Jews, Blacks, Arabs, Russians" or whoever happens to be oppressing them. You can't live like that. It's just not done. Say I'm a Mexican guy who's having a bad time of living in America. I may be pissed that the white middle class Americans have it better than me and that American society keeps me down and makes it hard for me and my neighbhours.
But say a white guy walks into my shop. Is bitching to him going to do anything to help me? Is he interested in that? No, he's coming in to my place to by something or have a beer or whatever. His money is as green as anyones. And besides, he's probably not interested. If it's a friend of mine who I converse with, then maybe, but the average person isn't going to come up off the street and go and bitch to you about the hard time their having. It's not as if you can do anything about it.
Nalaris wrote: I'm positive this doesn't expand much farther than my community, but it does exist (to my knowledge) in my community. The only mexicans I've seen who have grouped together like I described are in the public school system.
Maybe you don't know many Mexicans outside of school. I don't know.

If I'm laying down blacktop, I don't exactly have time to concern myself with the socio-economic situation of my people. I've got to concentrate on my job, just like anyone with a job.
Nalaris wrote:I think that many of the mexicans who withdraw from American society in my area do it because they want to, but I, not being mexican, an outlaw or poor, can only use information gathered from the top looking down.
Perhaps. You have a better chance of knowing than me, seeing as I'm not from the southern U.S., nor do I live there.

Topic drift is one of the most wonderful things of the Cantr forums.
Because atleast Cantr doesn't ban you if you start talking about this stuff.
If you read this stuff, you'd see how we got onto the subject.
I did read it, but I still think it went way off.

Not really. Everything ties into everything else, pretty well. If you look hard enough, there's connections damn near everywhere.

I don't know any mexicans directly, but they seemed friendly, honest, etc. They seemed like honestly good people who never gave a thought to anything you're talking about. These are the people I worked with (yes, me, working with mexicans!) and should, therefore know something about them...
And Schme, you can be annoyed as you want, but listen...don't swear at me. I don't like racism any more than you do and, I'd like to think, we're on the same side here.
Racism is simply more present and more brutal where you live, I suppose.

Some people are, some people aren't.
Nalaris wrote: They seemed like honestly good people who never gave a thought to anything you're talking about.
How could you possibly know that if you never asked? They're not going to go and attack you or anything.

I should hope so.
Nalaris wrote:And Schme, you can be annoyed as you want, but listen...don't swear at me.
You're misunderstand. I'm not swear at you. Swearing at someone is when you say "You're a f.ucker" or "Go to Hel.l." or "Quit you're so and so" or whatever. When someone says "So and so doesn't give a fuc.k about such" or whatever, simply means so and so does not care, however, expressed stronger. I didn't at all mean to offend, not in the least.
I'm not ragging on you here, Nalaris. I'm just saying things. But not about you.

No, that's not at all what I'm saying. I'm not really talking about direct race conflict. That's not at all what I mean.

No, it's put more offensively. Swear words have one purpose and one alone: to offend. That's why they're considered impolite.

Nixit wrote:I would disagree. They can be to offend, but that's the improper (and more common) way of using them, in my opinion. Like Schme said, they can be used to emphasize a point more strongly.
I only know a few people who can use swear words for emphasize and not sound rude or ignorant, and none of them do it in type. "She was f***ing mad" holds no more value then "very mad" or "extremely mad" or "incredibly mad". We have plenty of words that can be used for emphasis. Why take ones that have much cruder meaning and are considered offensive and make them mean the same thing.

For reference, Schme, previous censorship on the forums have been lifted - there is no need to intersperse any words with punctuation.
Nalaris: How, from knowing the few Mexicans you do know, can you start generalising about all Mexicans.
Of the Americans I have worked with (five of them) - all of them have been fat and arrogant.
Would it be right for me to say, from knowing those few, that all Americans are fat and arrogant?

Definately, based on your sample, you have enough evidence to support the hypothesis that 100% of Americans are arrogant and fat. It's the scientific method in action: you observe the world around you and make conclusions based upon those observations.
