Deleting unwanted items from the game

Postby Phil » Sun Jun 25, 2006 9:27 pm

I say each town should have a "waste disposal building" already built and instead of the game/ ground being clogged with unwanted items such as bones etc. These should be putinto the waste building and every month (real month) these should be deleted by the cantr team this way useless items notes, etc won't make towns messy...Think of it like when we put our rubbish out for the council....Anyway hope some people agree...

No, this would stop the development of new towns being normal if it already had a building, as it could be used as a jail, or to cower from animal attacks etc, and therefore is an inpractical means of getting rid of waste items

However I do agree that there should be -some- means to get rid of waste notes, resources etc

It's policy notes are here to stay for ever, but you can more easily shove them in an envelope than you ever could do....

it would be nice if a building type alllowed or even encouraged rotting of animal products...

Not a building, a machine. Compost pile. But still, EVERYTHING rots, at some rate. There are in game ways of dealing with that. No need for an OOC god to come and wipe it, or a new building type to be made. I'm sure the sancrosact timeless nature of buildings is on ProgD's list of things to fix, lets hope they never get to it.

Bones rot? I'm tired of seeing ridiculously large piles of over 100,000 grams of worthless bones.

Noooo! They can't make animal products in buildings rot, they'll ruin our collection! The whole town worked hard for those tons and tons of worthless garbage, and the new cottages have already taken forever. :(

Cottages? We're not even a fifth of the way done with the hall for the meat. Only got two of the cottages done and already filled the one up. Had to put some back in there too, cause people kept trying to be smart and tell me it wasn't full, like they didn't know there was one and a half metric tons of meat across the street. Not like they helped move it, what help I had was good, moving a hundred kilos of hide by yourself is a big task, 900 kilos is enough you begin contemplating writing macros to help you move, and wonder if you're going to get in trouble if you do...

Lateral thinking? New building type, made of bones, glued together with sinew and insulated with feathers.

I second that suggestion, but maybe cover the bones in hide on the outside and fur or feathers on the inside and possibly the floor too. I'd liked to think they would be tied together with sinew, instead of glued though.

but the building would have to be kind of small... like only holds 120000 grams (less than a dingy)...

ok, the building may not have to be already built but up to the town leaders to build it...then rubbish can be taken care of.

I also see where people or coming from when they say things shoudl rot eg bones..a problem i think with that is it will take too long, also bones aren't totally useless, think of new spawns and think they may need bones and they have all rotted with out a option. least if the building was built in the town the leaders woould decide how much to have deleted from the game still keeping some behind for such incidents..
