See..the opportunistic criminal, is the one that usually gets away with it and lives to tell the tale. Therefore, I'm rather happy that my characters only steal/cheat/lie/kill and etc when there is only a small chance of getting caught. For example, my characters are more likely to drag someone into a locked building, batter them to death and steal their belongings, as opposed to heisting a boat in the blojt region and getting pummeled to death only minutes later because they have dinghys.

When I was new to Cantr, I was more interested in causing havoc, but now that my characters are all set up and I don't want to see any of them die, most of my chars are law abiding and some enforce the law a little "too much".
Ever since my suggestion about coping with suicidal newspawns has gone into effect though, I've noticed a noticeble decrease in suicidal newspawns.

Seriously Ahoyhoy, stop trying to boast that you got a segestion through. I haven't seen a decrease personally, because I never had much of a problem with them in the first place, I would have between my characters once every two weeks or so, which is about the same now too.Ahoyhoy wrote:Ever since my suggestion about coping with suicidal newspawns has gone into effect though, I've noticed a noticeble decrease in suicidal newspawns.

I think I like enforcing the law a little too much, but I also have a good balance of different people.
One of my charries believes that a dumb name (Like Chuck Norris or a single letter) is borderline illegal, even if nothing is said about it in the laws. He considers it an unspoken rule, and if the person angers him an any way he will punish them to the full extent of his rank, which gives him the right
Although I do also have the peaceful law abiders and the overly pious and borderline bonkers religious dude, and a military man, so im pretty balanced i guess.

Some of us liked the suicidal newspawns. It was a bad idea, I wish there was an increase.

One of my charries goes by a single letter but it has an unknown name behind it.

Most of mine are law-abiding. Some enforce the law too much; some are dormant in any criminal tendencies because the opportunity hasn't come. Some are willing to try whatever comes their way to try, but aren't necessarily criminal-minded. It really depends on how the circumstances and their personalities work together to produce an effect.

Well, when I refer to people with a single letter name, I am not talking about people like the barons or people who have a reason to hide their past. I am talking about the newspawn who has absolutly nothing in their inventory, and was probably too lazy to make a new name.

It was hard for me to vote because I play all kinds, but I finally went for the third option. (even though my one truly evil char isn't adding much 'excitement or intrest' right now...it seeems like the only way you can really get away with anything big in this game is by being very, very patient). I have a few chars that are maybe a little to 'opportunistic' but other than that they're all pretty law-abiding.

"A balance of all different types of character, I enjoy variety!" - that doesn't cover you if you play all kinds?Marian wrote:It was hard for me to vote because I play all kinds, but I finally went for the third option.
And all my chars are hard workers, for whom the law is secondary. Most of my chars are more rich and powerful than the government in their town anyway, or have become the government... but in general, my chars are so piss-poor weak that becoming a pirate isn't an option. I mean, the day you find that, uninjured and fully rested, you drag only 12% on someone... somehow piracy no longer seems viable for you.

Well, I do play all kinds, but it's not an even balance. And not all of my non-law abiding chars are exactly violent criminals either.
But I feel your pain...everytime I have a new char that's interested in doing a certain thing it seems like they're forced to give it up because they suck at that skill...doesn't matter whether it's fighting or tailoring or woodchopping.
And I have a char who I thought might make a great criminal because they're good at fighting and hunting, but of course it turns out that they're still pathetic at dragging.
I've yet to get a char that can drag people single-handedly...I have the coolest name ever that I'm saving for a pirate char, but I don't want to waste it on a weakling so I have to wait until a few from my current batch die before I can spawn some more to try for decent fighting and dragging skills.

I have an expert who does 29 damage with a battle axe.
29.
That's 12 points below the average damage of the weapon... so I hate to think how rubbish that char would be if he was awkward...
