New places.

Wouldn't it be nice if you could stop in the middle of a road from one town to another and start building a new town? I think people should be able to stop on the middle of a road and begin building a new community from scratch. the first thing required would be to build some sort of building there and name it, then name the city, and then watch people start spawning there and traveling from other places just to go explore. Eventually you would have enough people there and they would all be contributing and people would eventually forget that the place they are on once was just a little dirt road that contained nothing.

Eventually cantr will be free-roaming, and such things will of course be possible. It's in development. See "cantr roadmap" thread for details.

You think it will become a 3-D java soon then?

So what you're saying West is that Jos is secretly working on a WoW meets Oregon Trail 3D Visual game, available on the 8-bit, 16-bit, 32 and 64 bit Nintendo systems? Wow! :wink:

I can't see how a 3D Cantr would ever work, it would be like Runescape, but at a snails pace.

I think the text medium helps discourage a lot of unsuitable players from the game. By unsuitable players, I mean people looking for a hack and slash dungeon crawler type affair, who don't care for roleplay

I agree with you, Solfius. And text also saves server bandwith and space of course, so costs aren't astronomical, and it leaves room for our imagination in everything. As I've said in other threads, I'm against more graphics in Cantr.

More graphics = Bad
Freeroaming = Good.
Implementing freeroaming badly like alot of things that still need fixing = VERY VERY BAD!

I do not want it to go 3-D. just free roaming. Any graphics added to the game would just take away from the imagination and role playing fun.

i agree i wouldn't mind becoming a leader of a town and lead it my way.im sick of some places systems that don't work and are shocking and strict..role on new towns to make me a leader

There are plenty of places still uninhabited, or with very low populations. Go out and discover/take over one.

Personally, I don't think we can effectivley go to free roaming without restting Cantr. Too many existing towns would randomly be disrupted. But I am not involved in all of those ProgD arguments right now. :D

Similarly, I think after free roaming Cantr would be too large for the player base.

You'd end up, potentially, with vast wilderness between towns because you can go anywhere you choose. If you consider that each town is represented by a town and then consider how many land pixels there are between towns and the total amount of land pixels in Cantr, then you get a feel for the relative increase in explorable areas across the Cantr world, as you can occupy any of those pixels.

You cannot reset cantr. I know for a fact that if you did many players would quit

Me for one. I could not bear to begin all again and try to rebuild my positions. I am not even making any new characters when mine die at the moment because it is too hard work
