One simple way for towns to protect from any pirate with a cabin... keep the harbour locked. *shrugs*

Yeah, I figured that was probably one of the reasons why it was big ships only, ontherwise they're way to powerful.

So we have ship cabins ans stuff, but I have a question... why can't they go on sloops? Every boat I've ever seen that is over 30' and is a sloop has had a cabin. And considering that sloops can be as large as 120' (I've been on one), don't you think we should have cabins, if only the small ones, on them? I understand that Cantr sloops probably aren't 120', but even still, wouldn't one expect them to be at least 30', and therefore be capable of having a cabin?

Probably because, as Surly and Marian said, it would be a bit too useful to be able to dock a ship with a cabin (think "floating prison") directly to land.

The small cabin only holds two people anyway and little storage... I'd think it could be safely allowable on some of the larger ships that can dock to land...

Ok, another question. Does this now at least allow you to build machines inside the cabins or storage holds that you previously could not build on a boat, or outside any building?
Like a spindle, or oven?
It would be great if you could do that, it would allow you to process much of your gathered materials on the way home, or the next place you plan to visit, in stead of waiting to dock somewhere to use a machine.

You can build a lot of them ... but not all . I'm unsure of the full list of
ones possible but most of what you can currently build in buildings is OK except for other buildings and the following which are explicitly excluded on vehicles of all types (including in cabins/holds etc)

    smelting furnace
    work bench
    glass oven
    anvil
    millstone
    alumina refiner
    small sharpening block
    coin press
    kiln
    coke oven
    large rope machine
    gas purifier
    lathe
    anvil
wooden saw carriage with steel blade
    extended range radio transmitter
    radio receiver
    medium radio transmitter
    enhanced range radio transmitter
    long range radio transmitter

I believe RD are designing a special ship radio transmitter - and vehicle radio receivers are not on that list - but they may be further restricted to specific types of land vehicles - I'm sure there will be a radio option

EDIT:Vehicle radio receivers are currently limited to the following types bus,jeep,limousine,mini-van,passenger car,pickup,small pickup,small sportscar,small tractor,small van,stationcar,tractor,van

Good.. then my plan to be the first independent Ship based DJ can still go ahead....

I can be the first broadcast journalist in cantr - I presume a dinghy will house one of these new receivers....

You'd need a transmitter to transmit too ;)
